International News Title: Russian Authorities Call Soros Foundation Threat to Russian “National Security”–When Will Europe And The US Catch On? I’m surprised this took so long. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has recognized George Soros’s Open Society Institute and another affiliated organization as undesirable groups, banning Russian citizens and organizations from participation in any of their projects. In a statement released on Monday, prosecutors said the activities of the Open Society Institute and the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation were a threat to the foundations of Russia’s Constitutional order and national security. They added that the Justice Ministry would be duly informed about these conclusions and would add the two groups to Russia’s list of undesirable foreign organizations. Prosecutors launched a probe into the activities of the two organizations – both sponsored by the well-known US financier George Soros – in July this year, after Russian senators approved the so-called “patriotic stop-list” of 12 groups that required immediate attention over their supposed anti-Russian activities. Other groups on the list included the National Endowment for Democracy; the International Republican Institute; the National Democratic Institute; the MacArthur Foundation and Freedom House. In late July, the Russian Justice Ministry recognized the US National Endowment for Democracy as an undesirable group after prosecutors discovered the US NGO had spent millions on attempts to question the legitimacy of Russian elections and tarnish the prestige of national military service. [Prosecutors ban Soros Foundation as ‘threat to Russian national security,’Russia Today, November 30, 2015] Soros has been fingered by the Hungarian government as one of the leading forces promoting the current invasion of Europe. Far from denying the charge, Soros explicitly admitted his goal is to destroy the nation-states of the Continent. Of course, Soros is also the ringleader of the Black Lives Matter movement, spending millions to plunge American cities into chaos. And Soros has been doing his best to subvert the American Right, especially by trying to bribe evangelicals into supporting an Amnesty/Immigration Surge. It’s somewhat dated now, but one of the best books that shows the connection between Soros’s international efforts and his domestic subversion is David Horowitz and Richard Poe’s 2007 The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton, and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party. Horowitz shows how the Soros Foundation (allied with our own State Department of course) helped unleash the famous (or infamous) “color revolutions” in Eastern Europe, deliberately destabilizing Russia’s near abroad. Countering this subversion has been Putin’s primary foreign policy goal, as can be seen in his forceful response to the fall of the Ukrainian government. Generally, Beltway Right types cheer Soros’s actions when they are directed against Russia, but mutter about the plutocrat’s subsidization of left wing groups at home. It is becoming increasingly clear this is all part of the same effort. And the so-called “Open Society” is simply government by financiers, with the actual American people left out of the decision making process. Needless to say, Israel is not putting up with mass immigration or open borders advocacy. But the Israeli government is also involved in the malevolent effort to swamp Europe. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? #2. To: nativist nationalist, Vicomte13, Pericles, TooConservative (#0) George Soros’s Open Society Institute Soros is a believer in the doctrine of Karl Popper's open society expressed in the book, The Open Society and Its Enemies.
The open society is a concept originally suggested in 1932 by the French philosopher Henri Bergson,[1][2] and developed during the Second World War by Austrian-born British philosopher Karl Popper.[3] Popper saw the open society as standing on a historical continuum reaching from the organic, tribal, or closed society, through the open society marked by a critical attitude to tradition, up to the abstract or depersonalised society lacking all face-to-face transactions.[4] In open societies, the government is expected to be responsive and tolerant, and political mechanisms are said to be transparent and flexible. Advocates claim that it is opposed to authoritarianism. Popper saw the classical Greeks as initiating the long slow transition from tribalism towards the open society, and as facing for the first time the strain imposed by the less personal group relations entailed thereby.[5] Whereas tribalistic and collectivist societies do not distinguish between natural laws and social customs, so that individuals are unlikely to challenge traditions they believe to have a sacred or magical basis, the beginnings of an open society are marked by a distinction between natural and man-made law, and an increase in personal responsibility and accountability for moral choices (not incompatible with religious belief).[6] Popper argues that the ideas of individuality, criticism, and humanitarianism cannot be suppressed once people become aware of them, and therefore that it is impossible to return to the closed society;[7] but at the same time recognised the continuing emotional pull of what he called “the lost group spirit of tribalism”, as manifested for example in the totalitarianisms of the 20th century.[8] [...]
#3. To: A Pole (#2) (Edited) Popper was a purist, speaking in philosophical terms about an open society. Soros uses open society ideology to mask his fundamentally predatory profit motives. I would not compare the two in any way. Popper and Bergson are the real deal; Soros is the huckster, selling snake oil to line his pockets.

#5. To: TooConservative (#3) Soros uses open society ideology to mask his fundamentally predatory profit motives. Soros is just a user or consumer of a self-serving intellectual justification, it was Popper's idea of an open society that is intrinsically predatory - isolated individuals pursuing their selfish interests. Same with the Free Market XIX c. ideology that Popper dressed in the pseudo-ethical XX c. skin.
