Title: Jesus would fight for the Second Amendment

Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) said Thursday that Jesus Christ is a defender of the right to bear arms.

“Jesus would fight for our Second Amendment,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

“Taking concrete defense measures (i.e. arming ourselves) away from the good guys?” she asked. "Yeah…that…we don’t want that.

“Shoot, even the Lord said to take up arms and defend yourself and protect the innocent,” added Palin, who was a GOP vice presidential candidate in 2008.

“We’re expected to take responsibility to defend ourselves and to protect the innocent, certainly not relying on fallible leaders to do it for us.”

Palin then referenced Biblical scripture in defense of her position on gun rights protected by the Constitution.

“Don’t believe me?” she asked. "Look it up – Luke 22:36. Proof that Jesus is a proponent of carrying.”

Luke 22:36 depicts Jesus speaking with his disciples before his eventual crucifixion and resurrection as believed by Christians.

“[Jesus] said to them, ‘But now let the one who has the money bag take it, and likewise a knapsack,’” according to the English Standard Bible.

According to the passage, Jesus commands: “And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. For I tell you that the Scripture must be fulfilled in me: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors.’

“For what is written about me has fulfillment,'” the English Standard Bible added of Jesus’s words. "And [the disciples] said, ‘Look, Lord, here are two swords.' And he said to them, ‘It is enough.’”

Palin also posted a video Thursday mocking liberal views on gun control and the Second Amendment.

The Media Research Center clip, “The Gun Control Song,” parodies President Obama’s repeated calls for stricter firearms regulations.

“Come on Obama and lecture us now, there’s been another mass shooting in another small town,” a person sings in the video, to the tune of Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young." "Politicize it while the blood is still fresh on the ground.

“So start pounding that podium,” the singer continues. "And give that same old speech that you always give, pushing the same old liberal anti-gun narrative.

“But you can be 100 percent positive that when a crazy person shoots someone, that Obama’s going to blame the gun,” the singer adds.

Obama has repeatedly decried Congressional inaction on tighter gun control, vowing he will “politicize” the issue as often as possible before leaving office.

Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., suffered a deadly mass shooting early last month. Christopher Harper Mercer, 26, killed nine people there before turning his weapon on himself.

The Tofflers came to give a lecture series at the Command & General Staff college when I was a student. Their main theme was the wars of the 21st Century would involve the various 'fault lines' of culture and religion seen throughout the centuries but an expansion of the fault lines due to technology and global economics. They did address a potential cataclysm which would cause refugees from one side of the fault line to cause serious conflict. Below is a Google book link from War in the 21st Century written by COL G.D. Bakshi. He touches on "Transcending the Toffler Paradigm."

I think the Huntington book is more 'timeless.' He gives a more realistic, IMO, analysis of the clash of civilizations no matter the technology levels of mankind. Muslims and Christians et al. will always be at fault lines. The Tofflers added to mix allows one to analyze technology (the waves) which allow certain civilizations to be 'relevant.'

Meaning, I see here a lot that all we have to do is 'ignore' the Muzzie nations and we are fine. Not a bad idea, but the reality is as long as the Muzzies have the energy large fossil fuel reserves they have, and there is a demand for such to fuel our societies, they are relevant. Makes a strong argument for alternative energy technologies not only for the US but for the ENTIRE West and Far East.

Bad idea, as radical Muslims will never ignore us 'infidels'.

Not a bad idea, but the reality is as long as the Muzzies have the energy large fossil fuel reserves they have, and there is a demand for such to fuel our societies, they are relevant.

It's possible that the new reality, -- that fossil fuels are VERY abundant, (at higher costs) will finally wake us up, and let the Muzzies try to eat their cheap oil.

Makes a strong argument for alternative energy technologies not only for the US but for the ENTIRE West and Far East.

Nothing wrong with doing both, -- starving out cheap muzzie oil while we encourage new technologies..

Nah, Robert, when Jesus comes back the bodies of those who rejected Him will be stacked up high in rivers of blood and a great feast of birds will ensue.

The next time He arrives it will be as conquering King.

Until then, His message of Grace is open to all who repent and come to Him.

Thanks, I'll get to it. The Tofflers wrote they were predicting that things would happen. I always took their predictions as a blue print for how the left would manipulate events to make things happen.

Deepest oil wells are already over 7 miles deep and you only need to drill down 2-3 miles to tap into Geothermal energy...

I was recalling the Kola hole in Russia.

The deepest hole ever drilled is the Kola Superdeep Borehole, on the Kola peninsula in the northwest corner of Russia, located near Finland. It was drilled for scientific research by the USSR. Like many large research holes, it had a number of offshoots from the central branch, and the deepest, SG-3, was 7.6 miles (12.262 km) deep. The borehole reached this depth in 1981. The temperature at this depth was 356°F (180°C), at which point the rock became more like a plastic than a solid, stopping further drilling.

Even though the hole in question was 7.6 miles (12.262 km) deep, it only penetrated a third of the Baltic continental crust. The rock at the bottom of the hole was about 2.7 billion years old, and samples brought from near the bottom contributed invaluably to the study of geology and geophysics at the time. The original depth goal was 9.32 miles (15,000 meters), but a faster-than-expected increase in temperature forced a premature halt to the project. If the hole had extended down to its planned depth, the projected temperature would have been 572°F (300°C), well over the maximum operating temperature of the drill bit.

Apparently, the record was broken by Qatar in 2008 with a 35,000 foot hole. Then broken again in Russia by Exxon Neftegas Ltd. with a 40,000 foot hole in 2011.

The Earths core temperature doesn't seem to be very uniform, the article I read was saying the temperatures 2-3 miles down (IIRC it was talking about being drilled in the New England states) was supposed to be about 450 F...

The crust is not uniform.

Where the Kola hole was drilled was on the Baltic Shield, a solid mass of rock 100 miles thick under Sweden and Finland and northwest Russia.

The rest of Russia is on a big giant plate as well. So unlike the area southwest of Russia where you have major earthquakes in countries like Armenia, Russia and most of western Europe are very stable because they are on a thick and very dense chunk of rock.

You would naturally expect that regions of the earth like the Pacific Rim with its vulcanism would be much hotter as a result of so much lava around continental plates that the weight of the ocean presses down upon. Similarly, our own Yellowstone undoubtedly has higher core temperatures due to the proximity of a small ocean of lava under it.
