Instead of “What would Jesus do?” how about “What would king David do?”

All to often I hear men, especially men who profess to be both Christians and Patriots saying “What would Jesus do?”

There is a major problem with that question, the problem is this: Jesus is God Almighty, you are not. You are a man, a creation, not God.

So, let me suggest a better, a more appropriate question for you to ask yourself when dealing with a crossroads, a problem, a decision. What would King David do.

What would King David do to the members of the US Supreme Court? What would King David do to the corrupt US Congress? What would King David do to the bosses of a lying corrupt degenerate media?

Of course, when you ask “What would Jesus do?” you can then say “He would love His enemies” but you could conveniently forget heaping coals on their heads.

But when you ask “What would King David do, how would King David handle this court, this congress, this lying media, the child abusers of the MEA and NEA?” Then when you search the Bible for an answer you find yourself facing a dilemma, will you act or will you cower?

And when He (God Almighty) had removed him, He raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also He gave testimony, and said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after Mine own heart, which shall fulfill all My will. Acts 13:22 ACP/KJV

So, want to deal with your problems in a way suitable to God? Ask yourself “what would king David do?” and then search the Bible to find out and then do it. And remember what Jesus said: “fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him (God Almighty) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 ACP/KJV

Jesus is also fully God and fully man, both at the same time.

“Why* do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? [47] * Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: [48] he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.* [49] * But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and* the ruin of that house was great.”

Jesus did not tell us to build our house on a King David example. That said, your point is certainly thought provoking.

Error, indeed, is never set forth in its naked deformity, lest, being thus exposed, it should at once be detected. But it is craftily decked out in an attractive dress, so as by its outward form, to make it appear to the inexperienced … more true than truth itself—Irenaeus, Against Heresies

Just a few comments:

One can be a Christian and not be a patriot. Conversely, one can be a patriot and not be a Christian. I point that out because I think it's important to remember in this context. While David was "a man after God's own heart (Acts 13:22), he was indeed human - not Divine (as opposed to Jesus, who was human AND divine.).

So in matters political, sure - ask what would King David do. But in matters political - Jesus said "My Kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36)

That's a whole 'nother level, IMHO.

There is a major problem with that question, the problem is this: Jesus is God Almighty, you are not. You are a man, a creation, not God.

But so was David - (i.e. a creation, not God)

But when you ask “What would King David do, how would King David handle this court, this congress, this lying media, the child abusers of the MEA and NEA?” Then when you search the Bible for an answer you find yourself facing a dilemma, will you act or will you cower?

King David certainly wouldn't equivocate, that's for sure. He would act. Another interesting side question: Once he acted, how would he handle the inevitable media hand wringing and second guessing.

That's an area that neither conservatives/patriots NOR Christians seem to handle well.

“What would king David do?”

He'd covet another man's wife and commit adultery.

And then have Bathsheba run for the Senate in NY, and then for pres in 2008 and 2012?

Please note at the end of his life King David became so self centered that he took man's wife by having him killed. His punishment was two fold: personal and to his nation. His stolen "wife" gave birth to a child that died quickly and his favorite son rebelled against him. His nation experienced a major drought until he repented.

Does any of this cause and effect sound familiar?

Hitler, Stalin, Mao,Pol Pot and 0boma?

1. True, but the thought is addressed to men who profess to be both.

2. The same way he handled the others.

It was not at the end of his life, study the son who David gave the kingdom to and you will see you error.
