Title: Not the first time Megyn Kelly has sucker-punched for the GOP establishment

People should not be shocked about the outrageous questions posed by Fox News moderators at Thursday night's prime time debate. The event was more like an evening of multiple-candidate gotcha interviews in prime time rather than a formal presidential debate.

With the enormous backlash brewing against Megyn Kelly which largely stems from her attacks on Donald Trump, some might almost start to feel sorry for her. Well, not so fast. It turns out that this is certainly not the first time Megyn Kelly has sucker-punched a candidate for the Republican establishment.

Back during the 2014 Republican primary in South Dakota, Megyn Kelly played dirty tricks on a US Senate candidate that embarrassed the establishment by miraculously raising more money than the obvious GOP establishment's pick in the primary. Dr. Annette Bosworth even managed to accomplish this as a first-time-ever candidate for political office.

How would you like to run for office for the first time and get invited for a prime time interview on election night by Megyn Kelly of Fox News? In hindsight, anti-establishment candidates should probably start declining her requests. Watch the video of Kelly starting the interview with Dr. Bosworth, most likely knowing Bosworth could not have known she had just lost the election. It was nothing but a sabotage interview in prime time. Judging by the Fox News caption on the screen, this candidate likely must have thought it was an interview to discuss the latest controversy regarding hate speech being directed at her during her campaign.

The tricks against this candidate did not stop there. Dr. Bosworth has since been charged, tried and convicted in an over-zealous prosecution for common petition infractions that normally are never even prosecuted. Because of the conviction, Dr. Annette Bosworth is currently fighting to even be able to keep her medical license in the state which she has passionately used throughout her career to help treat the poor around the world. Her prosecution is said to be the most aggressive prosecution against any candidate in US history and the signatures were even from valid registered Republican SD voters.

Megyn Kelly is obviously not innocent or new to "gotcha" unprofessional antics on behalf of the Republican establishment. She may just finally be reaping the backlash that she has earned.

She is experiencing nothing but career-enhancing attention.

She did herself a tremendous favor doing what she did. Now she'll be more visible and more powerful.

She did herself a tremendous favor doing what she did.

Not only that, she helped her employer as well.

Sounds like she's Glenn Beck in drag. Another one of Rupert's RINO's.

This is hooey. Someone is all butt-hurt over Kelly vs. Trump so they're trying to blame Kelly for this Bosworth getting prosecuted for petition fraud (phony or not).

Megyn Kelly crushed dreams on her Fox News show Tuesday night when the anchor broke the news to U.S. Senate hopeful Annette Bosworth that she had lost her race.

Bosworth was gunning for the win in Tuesday's GOP primary in South Dakota, and was under the impression she was appearing on Kelly's "The Kelly File" to discuss her campaign strategy against opponent and former South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds.

Instead, Kelly kicked off the interview by reporting that Bosworth had lost to Rounds with just 6 percent of the vote.

"That’s news to me . . . I didn’t know that," Bosworth awkwardly responded. "Really, I found out on national television."

"I'm sorry to break the news to you," Kelly said.

The week soon got worse for Bosworth when she was arrested a day after her primary loss and charged with perjury and allegedly filing false election documents, The Associated Press reported.

"The election complaints received by the Secretary of State involve conduct that is serious, deliberate, and must be addressed in order to preserve the integrity of our elections," South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said in a statement. "Because this is a federal elected office, I have and will continue to discuss the investigation with federal authorities."

Bosworth, 42, called the charges "a political intimidation scheme" at a press conference Wednesday, the AP noted.

Kelly reported the breaking news from the AP as it came across the wire. There's no reason to believe she did this to be spiteful. And she seemed surprised that the candidate did not already know the outcome. If the press called the race at only 6%, it had to be some kind of blowout.

Bosworth committed serious infractions.

CSM: Annette Bosworth, Senate candidate, arrested on perjury charges
Sioux Falls, S.D. — South Dakota authorities on Wednesday arrested defeated U.S. Senate candidate Annette Bosworth and charged her with multiple counts of perjury and filing false election documents, saying she fraudulently attested to gathering voter signatures when she was really on a Christian mission trip to the Philippines.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley charged Bosworth with six counts of perjury and six counts of filing false documents related to election campaign laws. The arrest warrant was served a day after Bosworth lost the Republican primary with just 6 percent of the vote.

"The election complaints received by the Secretary of State involve conduct that is serious, deliberate, and must be addressed in order to preserve the integrity of our elections," Jackley said in a statement. "Because this is a federal elected office, I have and will continue to discuss the investigation with federal authorities."

Many states have very strict laws about who can carry petitions, how long, etc. If she swore she collected signatures on certain dates and it turns out she was out of the country, she did perjure herself and file false documents.

Kelly had nothing to do with it. This is just obvious sore-loser Trumpsters trying to dredge up petty crap to accuse Kelly of.
