Title: Trump gives out Lindsey Graham’s cell phone number on live TV

Like I say, this was a cell phone number, not Graham’s Senate office number, which of course is public.

Must be a new tactic he’s trying out. If he was intent on doxxing every famous person who’s called him a jackass, as Graham did last night on CNN, he would have started selling maps to Jon Stewart’s house years ago.
“He doesn’t seem like a very bright guy. He actually probably seems to me not as bright as Rick Perry. I think Rick Perry probably is smarter than Lindsey Graham,” Trump added, riffing on prior insults he had lobbed at the former Texas governor.

Then Trump transitioned to an embarrassing anecdote, which the billionaire real estate developer said was from a few years ago, in which Graham called Trump “begging” him for a good reference with Trump’s pals on the Fox News morning program “Fox & Friends.”

Trump said that he promised Graham he would put out a good word, and the South Carolina Republican then gave him his phone number to follow up.

Trump then read out what he said was Graham’s phone number, telling his supporters to “try it.”

This made me laugh:

Good point from Ace: The value of having Trump in the race, supposedly, is that he’s forcing the RINOs to address subjects they don’t want to address, like crimes committed by illegal immigrants . But he’s not doing that lately. There are endless opportunities for it — he could start talking about the Planned Parenthood nightmare or the threat to religious liberty from antidiscrimination laws — but he’d rather take potshots at McCain and Graham. I quoted this Peter Spiliakos post in an earlier thread about Trump but his key point bears repeating. “Trump’s rhetoric is about wounding people that his fans despise,” he said, not about forcing otherwise underserved issues onto the GOP’s 2016 policy plate. That’s the common thread between his comments about Mexican rapists, McCain, and now Graham.

On that note, I’ll try to predict the five camps of reaction to giving out Graham’s number:

1. The RINO had it coming/any weapon to hand, a.k.a. the Spiliakos theory: 80 percent
2. Not cool, but Obama’s done so much that’s so much worse: 10 percent
3. Not cool, but Graham started it by criticizing him: Five percent
4. Not cool, but also pretty funny and not a big deal given that it’s just a cell number and Graham can get a new one: Four percent
5. Not cool because, after all, we’d all be wetting our pants if Jeb Bush pulled this on Trump: One percent

We’ll see how I do. Exit quotation from today’s rally: “If you can’t get rich dealing with politicians, there’s something wrong with you.”

Declasse on both your parts. But if you condone this sort of behavior I wish that someone will give out Trump's private number or perhaps his kids that run some of his business interests. After all isn't everything fair game if your world?

The politicians won't give out Trump's number, because he is a wealthy crony capitalist. They are the servant class who serve crony capitalists. Trump is a crony capitalist who has decided HE wants power, like Bloomberg. The problem politicians have is that they don't have money. The only power they have is positional, and they are completely replaceable.

But rich people are a permanent class, and they know each other. If politicians alienate Trump too much, they will alienate many other rich donors who are Trump's buddies and peers. There is no margin for a politician to do that.

Graham is in a safe seat in an insignificant state, that he has locked up, so he can afford it. Perry is sort of a dunce, doing the party's bidding to be a good soldier.

But what major politician on the Republican side wants to directly challenge the rich. If THEY start giving out his number, that will alarm every other crony capitalist who does them a favor. They only dare if Trump is alone and isolated.

As it is, they're wrestling with a man who is much more powerful than they are, because he is rich and well connected, and can pay his own way. They can't. People curry favor with Trump because he can independently help them with his wealth and connections. Politicians only have power because of their office. They are much weaker and less significant fish.

When Bloomberg, the billionaire, ran as a Republican in New York, a Democrat city, his Democrat opponent never really had a chance.

In American politics, money talks.

Perot demonstrated that, but then he cracked under the personal pressure, in part because he had some sort of sense of "déclassé", this shame you'd like to see Trump show.

I am not interested in shame - that plays the game of the politicians. I am interested in victory, and that will mean greasing a lot of tank treads with politicians' guts.

I am interested in victory,

So who did you vote for in 2012?

So who did you vote for in 2012?

Since you seem interested, In 1980 I was too young to vote.

In 1984 I voted for Reagan, unhappily. Reaganomics was foolish. But he was strong on defeating the USSR while the Democrats were namby-pamby milquetoasts.

In 1988 I voted for Poppy Bush. I was happier about that, because I thought I was getting eight more years of Reagan, Bush was a strong Cold Warrior. I believed his lying lips when he promised "No new taxes."

In 1992, I voted for Perot. There was no universe in which I would vote for Poppy Bush again. Clinton? Meh. Perot was my man. The country would be much better off had it broken its addiction with the two-party cabal and elected him.

In 1996, I voted for Dole. He was a war hero and I was tired of Clinton's nonsense.

In 2000 I voted for W, and I was glad he won. I voted to re-elect him in 2004. W was the only victorious candidate for whom I voted that I felt really good about. He - and the Republican Party - lost my allegiance when they, in a very short period, let Terri Schiavo be slowly murdered and tried to put Harriet Myers on the Supreme Court.

Listening to them, and watching how they acted, I realized that the Republicans had no intention of actually using their power to defend life.

And right along with all of that the open borders became visible.

After decades, the Republicans had all the power, all of the branches of government, most of the state houses and legislatures...and they did nothing with that power to address illegal immigration or pro-life matters. They simply went for more crony capitalist Reaganomics redux. At least Reagan WON his Cold War. Bush and the GOP managed to wreck our military and our budget to fight a Vietnam in the sands.

In 2008 I voted for Sarah Palin. McCain alone would not get my vote - and I had gone out and worked on his campaign in 2000 - the Republicans, and McCain in particular, lost my allegiance between 2000 and 2008, because my mindset is Catholic, not Protestant: I don't care what they SAY or they BELIEVE, or say they believe: I care what they DO. Republicans had power, and they didn't DO what they had always said they were about. I was a supporter all those years because I wanted those things they promised. But when they got power, they stiffed me, showed me I was just a rube, a bubba-boob. They were about crony capitalism uber alles. They just used me for a vote, and for phone calls and pollwatching and all of that other volunteer stuff.

In 2012, I gritted my teeth and voted for Romney, but I said "Never again". Romney didn't even pretend to care about what I care about. He focused on his crony capitalism, and lost, and I was glad.

In 2016, I like Trump. The rest of the field are either babykillers or Republicans, and they can all go die in a hole.
