Title: Walker Derangement Syndrome Off to a Fast Start [prof tenure]

One of the many things I like about Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is that he’s supremely annoyed the professoriate. First, Walker . . . didn’t finish college!! The horror! My goodness, that places him with such political dinosaurs as . . . Harry Truman. Actually, if you know the story, it’s even better that you think. Walker found his political science courses to be boring and irrelevant to the real world, which most of them are today, and decided he’d be better off without instruction in the trivial and stupid content of most university political science classes today. So he dropped out. Good for him.

But that’s only the beginning of his awesomeness. Lately he signed a bill that reduces lifetime tenure protection at the University of Wisconsin. Not for any old McCarthy-era political reasons; rather, the bill would allow university management to shed tenured professors if they decide to cut programs or departments, as universities ought to do these days in the age of tuition inflation and the higher ed bubble. I’d start with gender studies, and work up the recycling pile from there.

Needless to say, the lefty faculty at the University of Wisconsin have caught a case of the vapors, and have defaulted to Godwin’s Law territory right out of the box. Take Wisconsin professor Sara Goldrick-Rab, who tweeted these:

Goldrick-Rab1 copy

Goldrick-Rab 2 copy

Yeah, Hitler is the first thing that comes to mind when I look at Walker.

I’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn that Goldrick-Rab is a professor of . . . wait for it . . . education policy studies and sociology.  (In other words, a twofer loser.) She went on to write a newspaper op-ed saying the tenure changes signal that it’s time to leave the University of Wisconsin/Madison.  Oh please, please—I’ll help you pack prof. Goldbrick-Rab! I hear Rachel Dolezal’s old position in eastern Washington is open.

The corollary complaint is that Wisconsin won’t be able to attract top faculty if faculty tenure is insecure. This is one bluff the Wisconsin regents should call for sure.  With the immense surplus of good Ph.Ds floating around as underpaid adjuncts, it would be easy to fill the classrooms with well qualified professors before lunchtime tomorrow. Go ahead, make my day.

I have seen Walker up close - he spoke at a thing I was at in Milwaukee for business.

Impressive speech. He did not look half as retarded with his lazy eye as he does on the TeeVee. On the TeeVee he comes off looking and sounding kind of retarded. I guess it could be the editing or how Walker talks to reporters vs how he sounds and talks on a stage.

here is his address to the Iowa Freedom Summit . Doesn't look "retarded " at all.

I was being too flippant. He has that lazy eye and with that haircut he seems autistic - like he is not looking you in the eye. It is an observation of superficial appearance only. He is of course a capable and winning politician - at least by the standards of his state. Also, when he speaks for the camera he seems stilted but live he seems very animated and engaging.

To progressives if you do not bow to their crazy wishy washy perverse ways you are hitler!

Truth is Obama is the closest to hitler than any president in history.

Who can forget these delightful posters from the Wisconsin labor protests against Walker?

More kvetching from this unhappy prof.

More Hitlerization of Walker, with an Egyptian flair. I'm not sure how many people recalled Mubarak's first name was Hosni.

Walker is probably the best candidate for the GOP nomination. He has the resume, qualities and qualifications. Whether or not he has the necessary charisma is to be seen.

He hasn't taken her job at all. She's pretending her kids blame Walker because she is trying to move out of Wisconsin because of this new tenure law.

Something tells me this woman has a very unhappy history with every man who was unfortunate enough to cross her path.

True. He isn't nationally tested and charming his fellow Cheeseheads through a few recalls and a re-election isn't the same thing as a national campaign. But we can say the same of all the other candidates being untested at this point.

No woman with a hyphenated name should be taken seriously anyway.

Obama has played at being a president while enjoying the perks … golf, insanely expensive vacations at tax-payer expense. He has ignored the responsibilities of the job; no plans, no budgets, no alternatives … just finger pointing; making him a complete failure as a president

Seems pretty obvious that Kluane=yukon. His true personality always shows through, sooner than later.

Why did you ban him? He livened up this ghost town quite a bit.
