Author and political commentator Ann Coulter said there should be a 10- year freeze on immigration to the U.S. since the federal government has demonstrated it cannot enforce current law.
“There’s a law on the books that says if a country will not take a criminal back the attorney general shall, not may, shall deny visas, any visas coming from that country – that is on the books right now. Has it been enforced by Republicans or Democrats? No, it has not,” Coulter said during an interview with PJ Media.
“There’s a law on the books right now that says an immigrant who has been convicted of a crime in America who does not cooperate in being sent home, that itself is a crime, not signing the papers, not showing up when you’re supposed to, that itself is a crime punishable by 4 years in prison – that’s never enforced. It’s just not enforced. Three times Congress has voted to build a fence and it never gets built,” she added.
According to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released 33,007 illegal immigrants with criminal records in 2013. Following these releases, 121 were charged with homicides.
Based on the research Coulter conducted, she concluded that a legal fix is not going to improve the immigration system.
“The entire thing has to be shut down. No more immigration for 10 years. We get our books in order. We assimilate the ones already here. Build a fence. Repeal anchor babies and then we start up with the pre-1970 immigration policies,” Coulter said.
“It’s not just Obama; Bush was the same way. Bush didn’t enforce it, either. The entire immigration bureaucracy is corrupt. It is run by and staffed by left-wingers who hate America who in other times would have been fighting with revolutionaries in Latin America and getting themselves arrested. Now they punish Americans here at home. They say we are racist, sexist, imperialistic, greedy, they want to transform America because they hate America,” she added.
Coulter told PJ Media that Republicans can win in 2016 without substantial support from the Hispanic community.
Whites are leaving the GOP party as well - the promised economic boom times from free trade and worshiping the rich only produced jobs in China and places overseas.

Why would you assume that? Independent is still a choice. If you are a conservative and work in a manufacturing plant you are better off voting Democrat. If you are in the recycle business, you should vote Republican because scraps are exported overseas and GOP generally supports free trade, etc.
2.) Younger white voters don't agree with older white voters on issues like gay marriage and marijuana. In fact, the Silent Generation and Millennials are at polar opposites of the spectrum on both issues, including Millennials who identify as conservatives and Republicans. Both the Boomers and GenXers agree more with the Millennials on these issue, but just not with the same overwhelming majorities.
So, the GOP is going to need a different focus to attract more than just old, married, white people. It's just a fact.
The GOP controls 31 governor's offices and 70 percent of the state legislatures. The GOP has governors in states that haven't voted for the GOP Presidential candidate since Reagan. So, the GOP can and does attract independents, young people, and minorities. But they do so with a positive message of economic competence and reform. That is what the national GOP needs to win back the White House.

Yup. I first found out about it when I met a young Salvadorian man that had enlisted in the US military to get his citizenship. He told me his mother had been a local communist party organizer and fled El Salvador to escape arrest and execution after the communists were defeated. The Catholic Church had helped smuggle them into the US,and got them on welfare and other benefits as "persecuted political persons",or whatever the correct term is. His mother was on an arrest and execute list in El Salvador for crimes she committed during the war,so I guess we decided to show her what successful communism looked like by giving her and her son free food,housing,medical care,schooling,and checks to live on.
Her son was on no arrest list so he was covered by being a minor. Once he became 18 he was no longer covered,so he enlisted in the army for 3 years to get citizenship so he wouldn't have to go back there.
I will admit he was well-spoken and thoughtful,and didn't mind discussing/debating the issue. Truth to tell,he was pretty bright and may end up being one of our better imports in the long run if he can ever get past putting his mother on a pedestal.
Yes,the poorer people in El Salvador did have grievances that needed to be addressed and corrected,but that didn't justify the things the communists did.
