Extradition process and justice system are too slow for would-be presidential candidate

Donald Trump, a man who has previously and may once again tout himself as a presidential candidate, believes that the American justice system is too slow and cumbersome to deal with whistleblowers like former NSA analyst Edward Snowden.

Labeling Snowden a “spy”, Trump went on Fox News to advocate his immediate “execution”.

In a vomit inducing interview with Fox and Friends, Trump, in his infinite wisdom, stated:

“You know, spies in the old days used to be executed.”

“This guy is becoming a hero in some circles. Now, I will say, with the passage of time, even people that were sort of liking him and were trying to go on his side are maybe dropping out…”

“We have to get him back and we have to get him back fast. It could take months or it could take years, and that would be pathetic.” The Donald noted.

Blatantly advocating that Snowden be assassinated, Trump suggested that the US would somehow cease to exist, should he be allowed to live and divulge secret information on government surveillance and other unconstitutional practices.

“This guy’s a bad guy and, you know, there’s still a thing called execution,” he said.

“You really have to take a strong… You have thousands of people with access to material like this. We’re not going to have a country any longer.” Trump continued.

Ironically, that reasoning was EXACTLY why Snowden went public with the material on the NSA in the first place – because he could not face living in a country that treats its own citizens like suspects and actively spies on all their communications.

Trump also labelled journalists who covered the story “disgraceful”, saying that newspapers should not have printed the details of the revelations.

Trump’s lack of understanding of the Bill Of Rights and the Fourth Amendment will not come as a surprise to regular readers, given his attacks on former Congressman Ron Paul last year.

Despite him being the most constitutionally sound presidential candidate in decades, Trump called Paul a “joke” candidate, and belittled his Libertarian outlook on foreign policy, saying Paul did not care about foreign affairs such as “if Iran has a nuclear weapon that can wipe out Israel.”

You tube not working, do you have another video, I find this hard to believe of Trump. But, if it is true, than I need to look for another candidate.

I like his interview yesterday where he complained that Charles Krauthammer was a "jerk" who "just sits there." Look at Trump's face, stewing as he listens to Krauthammer dissing him.

Spies are executed if caught during wartime. War of course meaning during times of actual military conflict with a sovereign country.

The "War on Drugs"(TM) and "War on Terror"(TM) and "War on poverty"(TM) don't qualify.

During peacetime, spies are deported or jailed, depending on their status as possessing diplomatic immunity or not.

The "Old Days" Trump refers to are WWI & WWII.

What if you pass info to the American press? The American people own the govt's intel and thus not treason - how can you steal your own property?. It's a loophole in such treason laws in a free country for sure. Like how Jews can't do certain things on Saturday unless they are behind a fishline that circles a town, etc.

They were before my time, so I don't know. Have to see the law and facts on the case, which I have zero time for, though there's no question that political/national fear would have played a role in the cold war 50's, even if the law may not have quite supported the death penalty.

In any event, there's no comparison to that and what Snowden did, which was basically to humiliate the US establishment for it's illegal activity. Regretably, there has been and won't be any legal repercussions against the NSA, including the chief who, on video record, outright lied to Congress about the NSA data collection activity which is a crime, simply because the proof of that crime was provided by Snowden. And no politician wants to give Snowden the honor of bringing down an NSA chief, so the crime is purposely overlooked.

This is of course true.

I never though Snowden was classified as a spy and even if he were, I would never suggest he be executed. I was merely commenting on the statement that “spies were executed”….which they were.

I feel the article tried to give the impression that Trump believed that Snowden should be summarily executed without benefit of a trial. I don’t see that Trump was saying that. Maybe I misunderstand the author’s intent….again, I don’t think so.

I can understand Snowden’s motive and will not condemn that. What he did, needed to be done….but in a different manner, if at all possible. I can only wonder if there were not a better method for him to accomplish his goal. Oh, I read what all the different articles had to say with varying opinions….but none gave me a factual satisfaction to possible correct methodology.

I don’t know how much damage Snowden did, if any….or what the tradeoff to cost vs results is, or will be. I can only hope for minimum cost.

Moving on: I kinda like Trump, not his personality which stinks sometimes (maybe most times)….but his no nonsense way of addressing problems and getting things done. I have seen what enough bad politicians can do as president, maybe a good businessman can do better. Nothing could be worse that what we have now.

Of course - after the first upskirt blooper - you would think they correct what they wear or how they sit - but the skirts get shorter and the opening of legs wider.

We forget Murdoch placed topless women on his page 6 of his newspapers in order to boost sales.

Wow. I don’t know where to start here. Any place I do will probably take me the wrong way. So, I will try to take a step at a time, although I don’t see how some of your comments are interconnected.

First. “If someone passes info to the American press….that would not be considered spying.” I would say to that….if the information was in some way restricted, then they would have to pay the consequences as prescribed by law if found guilty. Okay on that first one.

Next. “The American people own the govt’s intel and thus not treason – how can you steal you own property.” Using your analogy, the American people own the US Treasury. So, can they walk into a US Mint and grab up a few million dollars and walk out because it’s their property?

I don’t follow your reference to Jews….so I reserve comment on that for lack of knowledge.

I agree with Trump on Krauthammer and Wills for that matter. Why they are so "esteemed" is a mystery to me. They are wrong so often, it's almost a comedy.

If he dissed Snowden, it's not a deal breaker for me. While I consider Snowden a patriot, he is certainly not one of the issues I care about.

Catfish is good anyway you cook it.

Bluegills up in Michigan are tiny panfish, but they're good.

Bluefish, out of the New England oceans, are really quite gross unless you know how to cook them. They must be soaked in milk for a good while before cooking. The milk pulls out the oil, which isn't a nice pleasant fishy oil like Salmon or Herring oil, but is like Menhaden oil - the oil they used to use in oil-based paint (literally - maybe they still do).

Bluefish is nasty stuff…unless it's done right. Then it's passable.

My favorite fishes are smoked white fishes out of Lake Michigan, like creek chub or lake trout or smoked whitefish. I only just discovered Indian Candy a year ago. This is the Alaskan Way, where they take sockeye, cut it in strips, marinate it in brown sugar (traditionally maple syrup) and then hot smoke it in strips with the skin on.

Oh. My. God. It is oily and sweet and good, and probably the best thing FOR you on the planet, what with all the vitamin D.

Cod and eggs is a good standby too. Cod, Jarlsberg cheese, eggs. Nice omelette. And anchovy-mashed potatoes - all the good parts of Jansen's Potatoes without the cottage fry. Seems a shame to fry potatoes - they're so much better baked or boiled and mashed with rutabaga.

It's father's day so I get to eat what I want. I've asked for boiled cabbage and potatoes and rutabaga, boiled carrots with butter, and Indian Candty and rye toast with French butter all over it. And espresso.

They did not concede the point. Wife won't cook the stuff. So we compromised and went down to BJ Ryan's Banc House where everybody could have what they wanted.

I had three Maryland Steamed Crabs, an oyster right out of the Sound, and a quarter-rack of St. Louis rubbed pork ribs. Washed it down with a Rogue Dead Man Ale. Had an espresso and a coconut doohickey for dessert. Will eat blackberries, a strip of salmon and a mango down on the beach for dinner (it's hot and humid in Connecticut today, so eating dinner on the beach with the sea breeze is definitely the best place to do it once the sun is low.

The women are out now doing errands and washing the car. I told them no, I was not going to do any of that today, so I have the back yard and the green and the birds…and the heat. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's good enough.

Long John Silver's and Captain D's

All sorts of battered crispy fish are good. Especially with tartar sauce.

But you can keep the "chips". Frying potatoes ruins 'em. Keep the potatoes and give me another piece of fish instead.

Cod, Pollock…whatever will take a batter and fry up nice. Good. They should serve catfish at those places.

Once exception: Tilapia. I actually do not like tilapia. I don't know why. The color is disagreeable to me - not quite white - and it doesn't taste right. Frankly, it tastes like a made up fish that doesn't exist.

Oh, and Gefilte Fish. I actually can eat it, and do if its available. But honestly it looks like a turd, and it tastes like a fish turd would probably taste if I turned around and goldfish-netted one out of the toilet bowl and chowed down on it.

Why take perfectly good fish and do that to it?

Batter it and fry it, at least.

Haddock is good. All of those good flaky ocean whitefishes work well with a nice batter.

(They work for me with just butter and lemon too, but battered and fried is best.)

Even that deep-ocean white fish they fry up at McDonalds is nice FISH, even though the bun and the wilted lettuce and the rest of the "McDonald's experience" reduces it.

Everything but tilapia.
