Watching The Cops Title: Lost Elderly Woman Riding Scooter Gets Police Escort Home "(The) trooper had to point out on a map where they were and she realized it, then they had to figure out how to get her home," Francis said. Since the woman was unable to walk, their only option was to call for an ambulance and they'd have to strap her to a backboard to get her home, then figure out a way to get her scooter to her, Francis said. So instead, the trooper mapped out the route to her home decided to give her a police escort, riding behind her at a very slow speed with his lights on to make sure no one would hit her. "(The trooper) said he drove her 3 1/2 miles at 6 mph to finally get her home," Francis said. Francis said the trooper was eager to get the story out as many people who passed them during the escort thought he was trying to pull her over, and photos and videos of the incident were starting to make their way in the social media rounds. Jun 15, 2015 // 6:07pm As seen on The Five An elderly woman who got lost on her motorized scooter made it home safely, thanks to a state trooper's unusual escort. Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Francis said the woman, in her 80s, went out for coffee Tuesday afternoon, but quickly got lost on her way home and ended up traveling down busy State Route 546. The woman had already traveled four miles down the road before Trooper Dave Hintz caught up to her. "I wasn't trying to stop her. I wasn't trying to detain her. I was just trying to get her back to her home," Hintz told KOMO. "I just treated her the way I would've wanted somebody to treat my mom." Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves. What is equally true is that every community gets the kind of law enforcement it insists on. Robert Kennedy #2. To: All (#1) Imagine that. The officer didn't take her money or asset forfieture her scooter... and she wasn't on a three state journey to meet an unknown online guy to buy farm equipment. Some police state we allegedly have. Nope, she left him at home. A pig does value a pussy,

I'm surprised he didn't tase her - or worse. Of course the next person this policeman stops may not be so fortunate. To: GrandIsland (#0) " Lost Elderly Woman Riding Scooter Gets Police Escort Home " Very nice story. The Trooper is to be commended. He displayed common sense, courtesy, civility, and good service. His Post Commander, fellow Troopers, and all of the citizens of his state should be immensely proud of him. This Trooper is a wonderful example to all LEO's. Three cheers. Salute !! Si vis pacem, para bellum #11. To: Stoner (#10) I thought so too. Most officers do something like this many times on their career. It's just never reported. Robert Kennedy #12. To: GrandIsland (#11) Most officers do something like this many times on their career. It's just never reported. I've helped my communities elderly MANY times I needed a jump one day. An officer came by and I asked if he would give me a jump. He said he wasn't allowed to. But he gave me a ride home to get my jumper cables so someone else could. That was nice of him. But when I got in his car. He was like I need your social security number. I was like Shit I hope there isn't anything I should be worried about. There wasn't and he was quite helpful.
#13. To: A K A Stone (#12) (Edited) Most department policies prohibit jumps from patrol car to disabled motor vehicle. Our patrol vehicles weren't even supplied with cables to ensure the nicest of officers wouldn't do it against policy. Not quite sure why he wanted your SS number. I'll assume he was checking you for wants & warrants, per every departments policy before anyone is transported inside a patrol vehicle... all he needs is your full name and date of birth.
My departments prohibited slim-jiming a car door for people that were locked out. Due to liability. Prior to my hire, the department was sued for damage to the internal lock of a car door (even after they signed a liability waiver)... so the department put a stop to it all together. We called an outside service, at the request of the motorist for a lock-out. Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves. What is equally true is that every community gets the kind of law enforcement it insists on. Robert Kennedy #14. To: GrandIsland (#13) Not quite sure why he wanted your SS number. #15. To: GrandIsland, Gatlin (#0) "... during the escort thought he was trying to pull her over ..." Now THERE'S a Deckard story -- a photo of the cop with his lights flashing behind a little old lady in a scooter with the headline, "Cop Chases Little Old Lady to Issue Ticket. Witnesses Report Hearing Shots Fired".
