The launch of Sen. Rand Paul's presidential campaign -- expected to be officially unveiled in Kentucky on Tuesday -- may not have been possible without the work of his father, Ron Paul, the former Texas congressman and three-time White House contender.

The elder Paul, who ran for president as a Libertarian in 1988 and a Republican in 2008 and 2012, helped pave the way for Rand Paul by building a nationwide network of devoted supporters drawn to his message of limited government and non-interventionist foreign policy. But while Rand Paul has largely inherited the ideological roots of Ron Paul's political philosophy, he's not a carbon copy of his father.

The two are similar in many ways—Ron Paul says he agrees with 99 percent of what his son believes. In some cases, they merely take different strategic approaches to reach the same goal, and in most cases Ran Paul's stance is a slightly more moderate version than his father's.

Still, Rand Paul expects to be treated as his own man, and in many ways he has proven to be a different type of politician. Here are some areas where they differ, even if slightly:

You're really worried about Rand Paul aren't you?

What are the three top things you think the man is incorrect on. Please.

His kind of Republican is freaking out about Paul and always has been going back to his dad. They want to make sure the GOP is a reliable supporter of the Military Industrial Complex and Neocon interventions.

Is it your honest opinion that that is Gatlins motive? Because i'm not sure that is so.

You can be assured that it is not so.

In truth, I neither hold nor promote any neocon ascendancy and I do not harbor an insidious intent to wage any preemptive wars across the globe.

Any belief that expresses such an assumption I do is a baseless exaggerated concoction.

Does that mean you are no longer a fan of John McCain?

Didn't you support him in his last attempt at the White House?

I voted for JD Hayworth in the Primary. I have posted more than once that I voted for the Democrat opponent (Geeze, I can't even remember his name) running against McCain in the General.

I did vote for McCain in the general election for POTUS, as I will vote for any Republican against a Democrat for President. If Rand Paul is the nominee, I will even hold my nose and vote for him against the Democrat.

Voting for McCain against Obama doesn't make me a neocon....and voting for Romney against Obama dosen't make me a Mormon.

Rand ~ 2016

I like the way Rand jumps down the throats of the media whores. I know he is getting some bad press for his flare ups, but it is high time we had someone who is not afraid to speak their mind and do it with firmness. Rand is third down on my list....after Walker and Cruz. I am willing to give Rubio a chance, but I have not been impressed with him thus far in his political career.

I don't have much time for posting these days, but I read your comments when I can. I continue to be impressed with the way you handle yourself on the threads. Keep up the good work....I know you will.
