Watching The Cops Title: Obama Chooses Six Cities to Test Federal Police Scheme Under the guise of “restoring trust” between communities and police departments that have been militarized by the federal government, the Obama administration's Justice Department announced this month that it had selected six U.S. cities to serve as pilot sites, to develop and deploy federal guidance for local police to create better procedures, reduce racial bias, and regain citizens' trust. The plan, which is controversial because it is line with Obama administration goals to further nationalize and federalize local law enforcement, has been officially dubbed the “National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice.” It will use U.S. taxpayer dollars to deploy “experts” and “researchers” charged with training officers to act in a manner that the DOJ deems just — in essence doing the bidding of the Obama administration. Officially, the Justice Department will be helping local officials “fight crime” under the scheme, according to news reports. Obama doesn't hate cops, he just wants them to be unionized federal workers, cut from the same bolt of cloth that the TSA currently is. I'm thinking he might even make it a hate crime to speak ill of these soon-to-be employees.

A federal employee as a state cop might have a difficulty. Feds do not enforce state laws. Cops are already unionized - Patrolmen's Benevolent Association of the City of New York is a union. Obama just wants to move toward issuance of voluntary mandatory "guidance" to which they must conform or lose Federal dollars. The fed want to control it, not own it.
#5. To: nolu chan (#4) The very basis of "The Beasts" power is the hunger for more. Local governments, including State govts, are not to be trusted. The Federal Government will take over the local police authority, driving everyone into the only place that they can draw a paycheck. I think it will be hard to get rid of locally elected Sheriffs and Deputies, but they will be brought into the tent. Their favorite method will be used, strangulation by withholding funds, ramping up racist hatreds and civil rights lawsuits. As long as people watch TV and buy into the notion that the CSI or FBI agents are the "creme' de la creme'" I see no reason to think the takeover will be very smooth.
