Survival Skills Title: Rep. Don Young: Wolves would solve homelessness
Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) suggested Thursday that if he let loose wolves in some congressional districts, they “wouldn’t have a homeless problem anymore.” (House Committee on Natural Resources) Alaska Republican Rep. Don Young, famous for his salty tongue and brusque demeanor, suggested Thursday that if he let loose wolves in some congressional districts, they “wouldn’t have a homeless problem anymore.” The strange comment was made during a halting five-minute exchange with Interior Secretary Sally Jewell during a House Natural Resources Committee hearing on her agency’s budget. He accused her and her department of making decisions without consulting the states they’d affect. Young, who supports taking gray wolves off the endangered species list, mocked a letter 79 members of Congress sent urging Jewell to protect the gray wolf population. (In Alaska, for what it’s worth, you can hunt wolves.) “How many of you have got wolves in your district?” he asked. “None. None. Not one.” “They haven’t got a damn wolf in their whole district,” Young continued. “I’d like to introduce them in your district. If I introduced them in your district, you wouldn’t have a homeless problem anymore.” We sought clarification to ensure we heard correctly. A spokesman for Young said the “analogy was purposely hyperbolic to stress the point that these predators pose serious threats to wildlife management and their listing has damaging impacts to local communities.” Poster Comment: Echo would probably be alive today, if the eco-nuts hadn't tried to "help" with a radio collar. The gray wolf spotted near the Grand Canyon this fall has already been killed by a hunter![]() Echo was a 3-year old female wolf, according to the Center for Biological Diversity news release. She was given a radio collar after she was previously caught in Wyoming, the center stated. It also noted that she had "traveled at least 750 miles seeking a mate across a vast region that is entirely bereft of wolves." Darwin was on the job. A wolf looking for a mate in Arizona is too stupid to breed.
#2. To: hondo68 (#0) Echo would probably be alive today, if the eco-nuts hadn't tried to "help" with a radio collar. Why do you say that? Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012) #3. To: sneakypete (#2) Why do you say that? Human scent and a foreign object stuck to her isn't going help in the mating game. Doing nothing seems like the good option. The D&R terrorists hate us because we're free, to vote second party![]() #4. To: hondo68 (#3) Human scent and a foreign object stuck to her isn't going help in the mating game. The human scent didn't last past the first rain storm or stream crossing, and when she is in season no foreign object is going to disturb a male wolf. What *I* want to know is that if they were following her via radio tracking and knew she was looking for a mate, why they didn't drop one off in her path. After all, isn't building up the population in the wild their goal? Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012) #5. To: hondo68 (#0) “They haven’t got a damn wolf in their whole district,” Young continued. “I’d like to introduce them in your district. If I introduced them in your district, you wouldn’t have a homeless problem anymore.” He is trying to tell the clueless, bleeding heart, emotional misfit, insane, psychotic, liberal, eco-nitwit, political opportunists that their stupidity puts other people in danger. Those who live with wolves will always need to control the wolf population or be victims when the wolves spread to populated areas.
#6. To: TooConservative (#1) hondo68 (#0) It also noted that she had "traveled at least 750 miles seeking a mate across a vast region that is entirely bereft of wolves." Maybe not.. IMS, haven't I read that there are still some wolves in the mountains of northern Mexico?
#7. To: tpaine (#6) Apparently so. They are using an endangered group of 50 so-called Mexican wolves to reintroduce them as a wild species in the Southwest. Wiki: Wolf reintroduction
#8. To: hondo68 (#0) The link to the photo of Echo, who was shot after being mistaken for a coyote, when reads: The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. I saw the original picture of Echo. The loss was a tragedy. Grey wolves are really nice people. They have acquire a bad reputation because the gods have assigned them a hard way to make a living.
