Yeah - I mean bean / alfalfa sprouts and the like.
And YEAH - this is THAT Chuck_Wagon.
(The one who has never gotten around to building
the greenhouse south of the garage ... THAT one...)

So I got this 'Sproutmaster' thing for Christmas...
All I know is that you put the things on a turkey
& cheese & tomato sandwich. Avocado might be optional -
I dunno.

Anybody got any idea?

LOL Don't remember much, Chuck. That is from the way back machine. All I remember was keeping them dark and moist under the kitchen sink. :)

Welcome to LF. Don't know much about sprouts. However I'm sure quite a few folks around here know how to grow all sorts of herbs:)

Just drop in on one of the cop threads.

I have friends and neighbors who garden when the time is right.

What's up Chuck? [followed by regurgitation sound effects]

I've got snow and ice. The time now is definitely NOT right. LOL!

What's up? Two computers have died here in the past 10 days
or so. (So that would be 'down' not 'up', right? Yeah.)
The first one totally sizzled - utterly dead - gone.
The second one just needs a total Windows reinstall (I think)
and a new keyboard (I think). So this is not the 'happy time'
nor 'happy place' for the digital beasts. Regurgitation might
however, be appropriate. They were both Intel Atoms, and both
served me well. And I WAS thinking about buying new machine(s) anyway.

I'm typing this on an ancient Celeron D machine that I dragged up
from the basement. It still works - it's a trooper.
So I'm contemplating AMD machines. Faster and less expensive.
I USED to avoid them - heat issues. Now, however, hmm.....

How are you doing?
I haven't posted at you in quite a while, eh?
Thanks for posting!

Thanks!

I used to grow basil every year along with all of
my other vegetables. Super easy! After sprouting.
Basil seeds can be stubborn, you see...

I've now basically put the garden on 'hold' until I
build/have a greenhouse. I suppose that I am lazy.
So be it. Hey - YOU go dig up your yard - (or fill pots with dirt)
and get back to me - eh?

Friends of mine used to grow these commercially in a big round horizontally mounted drum.

As far as growing it at home I think glass/mason jars are used and some mesh over the top of the jar. Bing or Google it.

Thanks!

I'm first going to experiment with quinoa seeds/sprouts.
(Pronounced 'Keen-Oh') Because they allegedly sprout
in a few HOURS! Which is amazing, eh? (If true...)

But then again - I may also try the 'Itallian Mix' seeds
or the 'French Mix' seeds - or maybe even the 'Wheat
Grass' seeds - I've got them all. Time to quit the
laziness, eh?

Thank you.
I HAVE some mason jars.
I even have some with couple of few year-old hot peppers
in them (that I grew) that are now old enough to throw away.
(The peppers - not the jars...)
Hmmm.....

My kitchen cabinets do not have enough room.
But the ones out the garage do. But it might be
too cool out there - even though it's a heated garage.
Sort-of heated anyway. I was planning to put the
'sprout-master' on the dining room table unless we have
company for dinner. Unless they need more sunlight.
Do they? (Need sunlight?) I've read that they don't
unless you are trying for mature full-grown herbs.
But you are talking about 'dark'. I guess more research
is required, eh?

I CAN dig up my yard right now. Can basically do that year round in Texas:)

May have to mow the lawn this week too!

...year round in Texas:)

Ah yes - I remember the BBQs we had on those 70 degree
January days (yes, they were somewhat rare) when I
lived in South Carolina. It was nice. One of a
number of places I've lived in - and never should
have left. It always came down to making money.
Dang it!

It's all balance. You, no doubt, are paying much higher taxes living in PA. No state income tax in Texas. Some say, who lived here and now elsewhere, that the property taxes are higher in Texas. However, you get 'more' house and land for what you pay back east or west. Plus the prices are not stupid crazy as in NY.

Switch to Linux. Nice system, easy to use, and no NSA spyware included. Linuxmint cinnamon is a great version.

Switch to Linux. Nice system...

To switch to Linux I just have to move to a different room.
I've got two Linux machines in the basement and three
Windows upstairs!(Plus the netbook and the Android tablets (which I don't use)).

I use Win 7, XP, RedHat, and I used to use one other version
of Linux that I can't recall at the moment.

Any PC you have that has decent memory and power can run both OS's at the same time. I run VMWare on my linux system, which lets me run Win 7 in a linux window.

VMWare...

Ya know - I've never messed with the thing.
I've heard of it - but...

VMware is pretty user friendly these days. Free download. You do need to run it from the command line terminal (as root) to install, but that's the most complicated part.

You can also run VMWare on Windows, and then run Linux as a windows application. That is, you can install vmware on either Windows or Linux to run the other operating system. No doubt installing VMWare on Windows is easier for people who just want to click buttons on the screen to install, though it's easy on Linux.

It's great for people who want to slowly transition to Linux from Windows but don't want be overwhelmed by everything changing at once.

Linux also has "WINE", short for WINdows Emulator", which allows you to run all but the most complex MS Windows programs directly on a linux sytem.

"VMWare" / "Wine"

Thanks.
Next week (when some more money shows up here) -
I'll start the computer parts purchases
and the assembly processes.

After which we can speak of these things further, eh?
