How about a category for arts and entertainment? Perhaps it could be folded in with Sports? Arts/Entertainment/Sports? Or not. Or is there already such a category and I have somehow missed it. What are your thoughts?

IMO, there are too many categories already. It's true that nothing fits your description exactly, but try to fit in in somewhere anyway, IMO. Maybe you should start a ping list? Go to setup/subscription pings and subscribe to a ping list, or write a new one in at the bottom. No such user, you need a comma in there! I believe Golem wants a new posting topic, but I suggested a ping list instead too.
LF attempted these sort of forums in the past. They failed not because of lack of participation but the constant cacophony concerning the canary club. Today, we have limited the canary club to exactly the corner they want to exist within: daily news at 6AM by Gatlin, homosexual rights by yukon and the glory of the perpetual police state by GrandIsland.

Try and not include me in your attempt to "trailer park up" this forum. I've only posted decent articles, called nobody names and started no fights. Why would you treat me less?

That's the case with nearly every message board I've ever been on. Most boards could use some consolidation. Arts/entertainment is a standard category/forum/section on many boards, and I initially suggested possibly folding this in with Sports so that it would not create an additional category. I'm just suggesting. I'm not here to make waves.
So post it already and quit yapping about it.
