Militants fighting for the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq have released a video they claim shows Jordanian pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh being burnt alive while locked in a cage.

The footage, which is titled 'Healing the Believers Chests' appears to show the captured airman wearing an orange jumpsuit as a trail of petrol leading up to the cage is seen being set alight.

Flames are seen quickly spreading to the cage where they completely engulf the helpless pilot in images that are far too distressing to publish. ...

So many of the Reformation Founding Fathers suffered the same fate at the hands of the Roman Catholics.

Many Roman Catholics suffered a similar fate at the hands of Protestants of the Reformation.

No one's hands were clean.

Catholics controlled Catholic countries. Protestants controlled Protestant countries. Both were barbaric.

I didn't count. The mass of names is sufficient. Truth is, Christians were utterly barbaric to one another, and to others, to a degree that neither Protestants nor Catholics seem willing to admit. Catholics in America have the advantage of knowing well all of the various horrors and abuses of the Catholic Church in history, because America is a Protestant country and this is taught and known. Protestants are generally ignorant of the utterly murderous and bloody history of their own Churches. During the 30 Years War, the slaughter of "witches" in Protestant Germany reached a level of ferocity that paralleled the Spanish Inquisition. Truth is, it's all completely disgraceful. But the truth ALSO is that if the violence and death meted out by the Catholic Church delegitimized the institution, then NO Protestant religion dating from the 1600s or 1700s other than the Quakers has legitimacy either, for ALL of the ones that survive to today EXCEPT the Quakers were involved in the torture and murder of a lot of people for being Catholic, for being "apostates", or for being witches. My own view is literally from the Bible: God only gave the Hebrews, in Israel, the commandment to kill witches, or to kill anybody for anything except murder (that was a death penalty offense from the time of Noah). Therefore, to kill heretics and witches and apostates is just flat out murder, and inexcusable. Muslims do that. Christians are not supposed to. Our religious organizations did, a few hundred years ago. Blood is on all their hands except the Quakers. But that was then, this is now. Christ demanded forgiveness. Nobody burnt anybody at the stake in our lifetimes, and we're not accountable for the sins of our ancestors, only our own. That's how I see it.
