Did you both mello, or was it just that bad there? I have been pretty constant over the years. I was banned because I was severely critical of H.W. Bush. Specifically, I wrote something like "Was putting up with 8 years of Clinton to get rid of (H.W.) Bush? Yes. Yes it was." Some moderator wrote "Banned for that and the rest of it", something like that. And that was it. Of course, within a year the whole site was aflame with Bush hatred. When the dullards caught up to where the smart people were a year before them, they had banned us, and refused to reconsider their stupid decisions. So now FR is only a shell of what it was.
But they were mad over the Shamnesty attempts, the Harriet Miers debacle, etc. Not exactly the same stuff you weren't happy about a year earlier.
Well, now hold on. I was mad at W. Bush for those very things, and not surprised when he did them. But what got me banned was my criticism of H.W. Bush, 41. He only had two problems: Foreign policy and Domestic policy. Other than that, he was a peach.
He attempted them. In both, he was frustrated by the Right blogosphere and FR mounting a major effort against him. Shamnesty and Miers were the last hurrah for TOS having any actual influence in national politics.
...This place will be excellent. The conversations we will have here will make it so... NOT quite. LF is already now one absurdly infested infested canary/rat cage. This situation is reminiscent of Castro's flotilla of criminals and people with mental illness pawned off on the US from Cuba during the Mariel boatlift. NO THANKS.

(btw, I had NO idea you were so reviled at FR) There's a temptation to create another Hitler spoof starring Gilligan and his ill-fated attempt to pirate LP: Hitler: "I'm not worried about TPaine or anyone else taking over LP. After stroking the sysadmin and jingling my pocket I've got this in the bag." Canary 1: "But Mein Gilligan... Canary 2: "Mein Gilligan, LP is shuttering forever. I'm debating whether LF (Google's and Facebook's unwitting bitch) is actually better than putting up with a handful of antisemites and Truthers over at 4um which is at least a dark-web site. Nazi Truthers or Canaries, which is worse? This influx of Canaries has taken the sheen off any hopes some of us had for LF. Then there's the contents of the Headlines page and many of the articles in various categories.

Yup. ...handful of antisemites and Truthers over at 4um... I'm conflicted. I'm a Truther. But I can't stomach the "Joos-did-it" posting there that seems to be the signature obligatory post of the place. FOR ANY EVENT. Joos take far more of a hit over there than Muzzies. *eyeball roll* (kvetching over a hangnail: "DAMN JOOS!!")
Overall the moderators seem more mellow at 4um. Stone tends to get wild with changing titles and weird stuff on occasion. He's trying to chill, it seems.
Thanks, Stoner...I always thought that had TC keyworded "FREE REPUBLIC" the vid would have received more...ahem...attention. TC is the director and producer and brains behind the operation. I'm just a mere concept guy. Between FR and LP, I've had quite a few lampooning concepts that'd have been pretty funny, but it's hard work. Lord know there have been enough characters, foils and events to create a few others.

Don't let him fool you. I mentioned the bunker mindset of TOS, Liberator mentioned the various Hitler spoofs, I located and torrented the movie, 90% of the script came from a single post by liberator, I figured out the subtitle format and used Quicktime 7 to hardcode the subtitles onto the video and put it on YouBoob. This happened over the course of a day and a half.

OR their own puppets within the US goobermint. No sane, benevolent, constitutional US government would have allowed the second term to happen without rigging, greasing, and fixing the works. An Impeachment would/should have launcheded long ago. You might want to brush up on your Chomsky a bit, especially his classic Manufacturing Consent. As he says, it is not a conspiracy per se. But it functions as one due to the class solidarity and political interests of the elites. They don't actually need to hold any meetings or to explicitly plan most of their agenda. Damn, you guys all swoon over those Matrix movies. I never met a Truther who didn't mention them before too long. I think that Truthers don't really grasp how that plays out with the non-believers. Hint: they don't like the implication that they're unconscious boobs, given no more hard evidence than the Truthers can muster for their case.

Even the Journ-O-Listers devised and organized a Game Plan and executed an agenda. But of course they were/are doing so at the behest of their superiors within this hierarcy of World Subversion. I thoroughly understand the revulsion and rejection of "Trutherism." It's hard for folks to believe nearly everything they've been told about our system and order is a lie. Being bamboozled our entire lives is an immense blow to our intellect... But how it plays out with unbelievers isn't part of the equation for those who do the math. Connecting those dots in lieu of "hard evidence" has never been easier. That "evidence" is shone like a laser in everyone's face on a daily basis. Lies of ommision and "official" reports that are worse than fairy tales make it just as frustrating and incredulous for those of us who hear the perjorative, "Truther!" despite what we see is one charade after another.

We had had a recent story about how Keyes was still in debt over $500K from his failed campaigns (slipping money to relatives to pilfer donations) and was running a scheme like Sharpton's to keep his income off the books entirely. He was (and is) expected to die a half-million in campaign debt. So grifter was pretty accurate and contemporary. And Robinson just loved him some Alan Keyes. Couldn't get enough. And Thompson was irresistible. Recall how they waited so long for him, their savior, to quit his L&O job and go campaign. When he finally did, he rolled around the Ames state fair on a golf cart, fizzled and quit. And after Robinson acquired the rights to...wait for it...www.fredrepublic.com! LOL. And it pointed to FR too. Damn, what a letdown.

The somatic Thompson was a prop, a corpse, calculated to siphon votes. NOT there as a serious candiate, and it showed. Burst bubble were rife in Freeperland. People really had to be there at the time to fully appreciate your spot on impressions.

Well, W Bush was better than his daddy. I didn't hate W. Still don't. He made mistakes. So have I. His worst mistake from a national security perspective was not treating 9/11 like Pearl Harbor and going to Congress next day to ask for a Declaration of War. It could not have been resisted, and with full war powers we would have been able to lick the whole Muslim world in 5 years, control the world's oil supply (at a time when Russia was too weak to do anything, and China was not prepared to take up the leadership, and Europe was willing) AND bring the national finances well in hand with war taxes. AND keep the public together and eager to finish the fight against the evildoers. By using war fever, Bush could have overwhelmed the lobbyists and the monied interests, and by using war powers, he could have so swiftly, forcibly and irresistibly redistributed their money through war taxes that the deficit would have been a permanent surplus, the national debt would have plunged, AND the power of the oligarchy would have been seriously clipped (by taxes removing their money and unified public war fever and anti-sedition laws and taxes and regulations forcing them to march in step). That would have given America a win on all levels. But Bush is a man of the oligarchy. Not a brilliant one, not a mover and shaker, but one easily swayed by them. So instead we played at war, have lost it, and our financial stability, and everything. He failed because he did not do the right thing at the critical moment. And then there was the Miers/Schiavo fiasco which betrayed the pro-life base. The first thing set Bush's presidency and America up for disaster. The second turned me against him personally. The Terri Schiavo affair showed both Bush boys as cowards, at best, or actually aligned with the bad guys. In any case, my criticism back THEN on FR was aimed at H.W. Bush. I read his lips: he lied to me and hiked taxes. And when we had Saddam Hussein's evil regime in the palm of our hand, we let him go. I have no patience for Poppy Bush, and no patience for his supporters either. FR is the face of the GOP. That is the Republican Party. That's who makes it up. That's how they think (or rather, don't). Thank God they banned me.
