I was going to delay coming here based on just work I am doing and finding time but I am hearing reports of new fighting in Ukraine over that disputed airport.
Godwinson is the name I used on Freerepublic when Pericles and then Destro were banned. You used it here too. I might start a sock puppet decoder ring thread, for all of the aliases used by different people on these forums.
It's the two new unknown sock puppets that you need the ring for. I don't care if people have had multiple IDs as long as they're honest about it. If they're playing games and hiding who they are, you know they're up to no good.
Don't make me play that song to punish your cheeky insouciance.
Calling the different names I used a sockpuppet is a stretch. I never posted simultaneously with two different account names. It is not like the name I pick for an online forum can not change like a SS card or my driver's ID. It is not like these names I use for forums are copyrighted or in any way my real names. I may change my name on forums. But I don't have multiple accounts on each forum playing games or pretending I am a group ganging up on someone or on a topic.
Only a little. I would call them retread accounts if you got banned, like at TOS, and came back under a new handle. Then there are sleepers or zombie accounts, extra IDs for making mischief. I see your point that you were actively posting (and not to disrupt) under each handle in succession. So retread is probably more accurate. I'm not sure that being a retread is that much more dignified than a sockpuppet. These terms get used loosely.
Yes, retread is accurate - same person returning as a different account name and I really never tried to hide it. Sockpuppet is like having a gaggle of fake names who you pretend are different people agreeing with your main current account --- which I have never done.

Not true - I stated I remembered A Pole from Freerepublic several times who (I assumed) also knew me as Pericles on there - old hands at the Milosevic posts. I honestly did not really remember your name that well. And I did not know my ID was in contention.
When FreeRepublic cut me off originally, I thought that it was ridiculous and unfair. I'd been posting there for years, and was a conservative Republican. The things I was angry about in H.W. Bush were legitimate. I was stunned when they did it, and found myself with nowhere to communicate in the way that I'd become accustomed. So I tried to get back aboard, including by trying a pseudonym, once. That was in 2005 or so. Once I found LibertyPost, I started posting there. I missed the "wider audience" of FR for a bit, and I still thought they should lift the ban, as it was ridiculous. So I knocked at the front door a few times, in my own name (Vicomte13). They never deigned to respond to anything. With a little more time, I began to perceive that the thing that makes any chat site good is the quality of the posters. I have heard since I was about 8 years old how well I write, and while I never paid any attention to it when I was younger, as I've gotten older I realize that it is true: I write well, and I do so on a wide variety of topics because of the extremely broad education I have had, and the unique set of experiences. Having a strong memory helps also. And so with further reflection I decided that it is people like me, our willingness to spend time posting our well-written and provactive thoughts for free in a wide chat room, that make a site good, and the absence of us that breaks a site. There are a few news wires that print articles every day. It's easy to find the news. It's easy to find people commenting, one way, about the news. It's difficult to find people with whom to actually ENGAGE about the news, and to find those with whom one can engage INTELLIGENTLY, and at length, well, they're as rare as hen's teeth. Bref: FR's banning of me and people like me was FR's loss. Now I have no interest whatever in going back, other than on my own terms, which are simple: open the door back up, unban me, and don't presume to give me any "warning" whatsoever. I was dead right about H.W. Bush. I was just smarter than the moderators and saw it two years before they did. Unban me and do not presume to give me any "warning" at all, consider yourselves lucky that I should deign to return and give my time and talent to a site that has fallen far from its former glory (BECAUSE it banned people like me), and let it go from there. Those are the terms on which I would do FR the favor of returning, under my own name. Otherwise, that game's not worth the candle. LibertysFlame looks to be like a bigger and less cranky expression of LibertyPost, and with Private Mail too. So I think this place will be excellent. The conversations we will have here will make it so, and my excellent (if lengthy) writing will be a material part of that. This is not arrogance, it is realism.

Given some of the outrage that folks have expressed at me, the heat of the invective, just for stating my simple (if at times detailed) opinions, I suppose that there are some people whom I make batshit crazy just by opening my mouth. I think these are mostly matters of style. France is America's oldest ally, but a lot of Americans are allergic to things French, and I do write with more than a little garlic.

I recall you and I together on many threads about the election campaign of Sarkozy. Often, we were the only ones on those threads and were repelling trolls. I especially recall some threads with detailed comparisons of his campaign ads and posters to Reagan's 1984 Morning In America ads. Sarkozy created that same vibe with beautiful simple pastoral photos of lush French countryside. A brilliant campaign. A sample of your writing on Sarkozy and France at TOS here. There was a Milosevic web forum (I am not kidding) where when I signe dup I was literally called a saint for my work on Freerepublic by Serbian posters. That actually touched me. I stopped posting after Milosevic was murdered by - I assume - the CIA or affiliated NATO spook org after he threatened to subpenoa Clinton and Blair for his kangaroo court trial which he was winning. He appealed for help from Russia after blood thining meds were found in his system. There was a throw away article done months after that stated Slobo was 'suicidal' and that he probbaly had someone smuggle in medication to make it appear NATO doctors/tribunal doctors were poisoning him because his trial was going badly for him or some such nonsense to close the case.
Certainly some of us still recall these events and the craven manipulation by .gov/media to cover up their machinations and criminality. I wish Marguerite would come over.
A little reminder of the style of Sarkozy's Morning In America (matin en France) posters from, what, 2003? He had some graphics with much more verdant landscapes and an exquisite modern font, the epitome of French high style through simplicity. Very sophisticated imagery.
I believe that our first contacts there were on the first of only two threads (both vanities) that I initiated there. It was a thread on Orthodox-Catholic Reconciliation to heal the East-West Schism. I was full of hope when I initiated the article. It's fair to say that within a month I was disabused of that tender emotion. I recall a fellow named "Kolokotronis" who posted there. He and I had good exchanges. I recall that he tried to give me comfort that one of the most aggressively negative posters was a Serb, and "Serbs have dark souls"...which surprised me because I thought that was really harsh on the Serbs. Dark souls? Wow! He explained himself and I understood better that he wasn't saying that Serbs are evil, just embittered by history. Fair enough.

Specifically, I wrote something like "Was putting up with 8 years of Clinton to get rid of (H.W.) Bush? Yes. Yes it was." Some moderator wrote "Banned for that and the rest of it", something like that. And that was it. Of course, within a year the whole site was aflame with Bush hatred. When the dullards caught up to where the smart people were a year before them, they had banned us, and refused to reconsider their stupid decisions. So now FR is only a shell of what it was.
But they were mad over the Shamnesty attempts, the Harriet Miers debacle, etc. Not exactly the same stuff you weren't happy about a year earlier.
Well, now hold on. I was mad at W. Bush for those very things, and not surprised when he did them. But what got me banned was my criticism of H.W. Bush, 41. He only had two problems: Foreign policy and Domestic policy. Other than that, he was a peach.
