The closer Tolleson is doing a fine job. 23 of 24 saves since being bumped up.

I was referring to a starting pitcher as a "stopper." Never heard of Tolleson, but closing down 23/24 saves is encouraging for you guys.

They are playing better as of late and have won 4 in a row to get them 5 games over .500.

That may be, but I'm not worried about the O's. They don't appear to have enough this year.

He [the #1 Stopper] is on the DL after TJ surgery...

We have 2 #2s one is on the DL supposedly gonna be back on Wednesday and the other is pitching like a #3 or 4, in fact he could very well have lost last night if it weren't for the defense...

Potential is there....injuries (or lack thereof) is a crucial factor for everyone obviously at this time of year. Ya gotta hope that when your hurlers return they're in top form.

Choo saved his bacon with this little gem last night that if not made would have surrendered the lead and maybe the game...

Nice gun down!

Yeah they let Cruz get away just like the Rangers did 2 years ago, i could still kick JDs ass for that.

Holland was on a mission when he came back from the knee injury last year, hopefully he will do the same thing this year.

I can still see a bearded Clark Gilles circling around trouble-makers like a lion, keeping the peace. Most intimidating force I can recall during those days. Remember the brawls with Terry O'Reilly?

Sure do also with Dave Schultz .. and with Gilles on the line no one was going to take cheap shots at 2 time Lady Byng winner Mike Bossy .

Looks like Mitchell had a rough night last night... He's out of the hospital so shouldn't be too bad, just wonder how he will react the next time he goes to pitch??

he has nasal fracture. Don't know if he will be back before Sept call ups . Expect Paneda back soon. I think his whole dl stint was an innings limiting stunt frankly. But when he comes back the Yanks will almost definitely go into a full 6 man rotation .After Sept 1 I expect there will be 35 Yanks in uniform ...mostly in the bullpen . We'll be lucky if Yanks games last less than 4 hrs. with all the pitching changes.

"EVIS" well he's still playing his way into moving to a new zipcode, hope that can be arranged this off season... Ever since he got that big contract he's been regressing in all areas of his play...

Defense has been much better. His hitting has moved up a bit since the AS break.

Striking distance. Stros are beginning to choke. Do the Angels have enough?

If you can get passed Trout and Puhols with no runners on, you beat the Angels.

Seems teams know this:) Their pitching is like everyone else's in their current position...shaky:)

That doesn't seem to be an unusual thing anymore, don't think the league really cares if the teams do it as long as they aren't blatant about it.

Tough loss tonight. One bad inning by Chi Chi in the top first. Got in trouble but worked out nicely again in the third. After that lights out. BP did great too. What to expect when facing Iwakuma.

7-2 Rangers top 9th. Was 3-2 going into the 7th. Then they had three HRs in a row. One two run HR by Moreland, then solo by Napoli and then another by Elvis.

Holland did well. Made it 6 1/3 innings. Only had one inning (6th) where he got in trouble. Defense to the rescue again with a bases loaded no outs double play, then DD guns out a runner at the plate for the third out one batter later.

Rangers take 2/3 from the Mariners. Good deal. Too bad the Angels and Houston won too.

However, when Houston won, they put the TB Rays down in the WC hunt. Also thank you NY Yankees for taking care of the Twins.

Nice back to back to back HR derby by the Rangers yesterday. Even "Evis" put one deep over the fence to Left-Center. Nap got in on it too with a bomb in the same direction.

Hope they don't blow this series.

Yeah...Perez was horrible tonight. Registered only two outs for the middle of the Tigers order. And one of those was a sac fly.

Honestly, he's lucky. That game could have easily been a double digit blowout.

I know the kid is good but the team needed some consistent pitching tonight.

They always play down to the opposition and Detroit is below them. Bannister somehow needs to change that mentality of the team or they will never reach their potential...

Like I said before it takes awhile for pitchers to get back to where they were before the TJ surgery, he hasn't yet he's still inconsistent. It my be next year before he's "All the way back" BTA he may never be all the way back. Same thing is going to apply to Darvish.

It takes pitchers years to get their grips and mechanics down to become successful, he's having to relearn that stuff to some degree cause his arm "feels different" than it used to...

Lol in the Blue Jays uniform. Sheen has aged.

2-0 win for Colby tonight. Ties his personal best wins in a season. Care to guess what year that was:)

http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1259&position=P

It was a good year to be a Rangers fan UNTIL Feliz blew the save in game 6 and Cruz missed a routine fly ball after Josh got back the lead.

So saw Nefti Feliz pitch well in the 8th inning for Detroit. He lit up the radar to 97-98. Too bad he could not find that velocity with us. He would still be pitching for us.

I'm not but I just remember some of the articles I read that mentioned him.

Was on the 40 man roster, they had his potential as a #3 or 4 workhorse starter in the bigs (can you say Colby Lewis), throws in the low to mid 90s periodically topping out in upper 90s, most improved pitcher in the Rangers system (according to JD), has a good curve but changeup is still a work in progress, projected to be trying to nail down a spot on the Rangers roster come next Spring...

Colby is a free agent at the end of the year and is no spring chicken at 36, another year or 2 and he's gone... No more 200+ innings...

The person I wanted them to get from the Phillies was Ken Giles. He has a "heeter" in the high 90s/low 100s and sub 2 ERA. He would have solidified the pen for years and would have cost must less to acquire. But now that Papelbon has been traded you can forget it he's their closer now...

A dandy tonight. Gallardo better buy some Rolex watches for the defense. They kept his lead. Once again took him too many pitches but the Detroit lineup is very good.

Was 5-0 going to the bottom 9th. Tolleson came in with two outs and two on and Kinsler hit a 3 run HR. I question the call. Dyson got two easy outs. Then two batters hit squibbers in the infield for hits. I think Dyson would have got Kinsler to roll out or pop out. Well they won and Tolly struck out the batter before Miggy could bat. It's a win:) So far this series Miggy has come up with no runners on or leading off the inning.

Hamels tomorrow. Hope he can finally win one for the Rangers:) Miggy is 6 for 8 against him lifetime.

BTW. Rangers in sole possession of the second WC slot. Also back in second place.
