Thought you might like this little tidbit... The biggest thing I see is the Mets are finally starting to hit and drive in some runs... That is why they made him into a reliever I would assume. So he could cut down to using his best 2-3 pitches to improve his control. Went and looked at his stats and being made into a reliever hasn't helped his WHIP. NAPOLI, NAPOLI is back:) 3-3 tie tonight. Hamels gave up two dingers one to Trumbo and one to Cruz. Good news is Iwakuma is out of the game going into 7th. Oops Cano just took Hamels long. 4-3 Mariners. Hamels has to learn who he gets cute with third time through the order. I thought we supposedly traded for an ace not a 3rd or 4th starter?? Oh wait never mind... Lost to another team they shouldn't lose to, playing "down" to the opposition again. And now since Beltre's and Andrus ears have stopped burning so has their production, guess I need to remind them they suck and one of the reasons Napoli is back. I can see it now late in games Napoli will pinch hit for Andrus and Alberto will take his place defensively. Give it a couple of weeks. We got Hamels for 2016 and beyond.

Rangers put up a "snowman" in the top 11th. Pretty interesting strategy they used pitching in the bottom 10th. Smith gets a lead off two base error. Then Tolleson gets two strike outs then they intent walk both Cruz and Cano to load the bases. It worked as Tolly struck out the next batter. Why Nanny used Tolly in the bottom of the 11th with an 8 run lead and a pitch count nearing 50 is beyond me. They had two arms which could come in. With Monday being an off day it only effects today's game. I noticed he's been riding Dyson and Diekman like old pack mules, don't want to wear them out and put the pen back into useless shape. Also noticed Gimemez stole 2 bases the other day, didn't know he was that fast of a base runner. Guess you don't get to notice things like that if you don't get to watch the whole game, only bits and pieces. Looks like Houston's moves at the deadline aren't doing them much good right now, Rangers have picked up what 4 or 4.5 games in the last week or so. Rangers are only 3 games out of a playoff spot, only have to get over Baltimore, Angels and Yankees... :) I guess I expect more for $23 million...
Gimenez stole one base due to a pitcher not paying attention. The other one came on a blown hit and run. He swung the bat great yesterday too. Perez gave up 2ER of the three yesterday and not one dinger out of the park. He's rising again. His BBs were down too. If their pitching holds out they should pass the Yankees in another week or so, maybe sooner. Yankees are tied for next to last in the American league for quality starts with Tampa at 46, (Royals have 45 go figure), Rangers have 53 (right in the middle of the pack) Toronto 54 and Oakland tops with 66... He seems to be doing fairly well coming back from his TJ surgery, he'll probably have a few more so so games before he settles down and pitches consistently. Which will hopefully be all thru September when they have Holland back and "maybe" making a move towards a wild card spot. You only need 3 good starters to be able to do some damage in the playoffs... :) yeah they have been hot at the same time the Yanks bats went cold (especially their table setters Ellsbury and Gardner ). You normally do not see such a big impact with the trades made at the deadline . But the Jays have made a charge ,and the Mets surged into 1st place mostly with the contributions of the new blood. I don't believe the Jays pitching can hold up (besides Price ) . Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
This could be a year in the AL where quality starts are not a factor to go deep in the playoffs. Only to meet an NL team like the Mets who have great pitching in the WS. Always looking for my Rangers-Mets WS. Price normally has a rough time against the Yankees, especially the last 2 years with an ERA of almost 8.00... One or 2 players can make a big difference in how a team plays and it has happened with the Jays since they acquired Price and Tulowitski. The same thing can be said if you subtract one or 2 players, it can turn a winning team into a big time loser. This is also the time of year where older players start to wear down and need a rest. If they don't get it cause the manager is too hard headed or the lineup is lacking depth then this will kill a teams chances of winning. The Jays just completed a sweep and the Yanks haven't scored in something like 26 innings . They also let the Orioles ride their coat tails back into contention . So it looks like I'm in for some nail biting in the next month and half .

Some nail biting in the next two weeks to see if the older players start needing a rest or hit the DL. But Sept is close with young blood ready to help.

Tough loss for Colby today. He pitched a complete game loss (8 full). Think he is a keeper for next year. Stros lost so no ground lost in the Division. They seem like they play better against the better teams and let up against the worse teams, that needs to change or they will be out of it quickly. They do need to bring him back next year cause he can eat up some innings and the younguns haven't proved they are ready yet. The only semi easy series they have is Cleveland, Atlanta and Boston, everybody else is right at .500 and fighting for a wild card spot or leading their divisions... Sept 18-20 series against the Mets should be interesting... yes I thought that one would be a snoozer . Now it looks like it may be a World Series preview :> Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Ummmm, good luck with that one... One team has to get by the Cards and the other has to find a starting pitching staff... Jackson didn't even pitch and is sent back, Kela is back up as of today... Hamels scratched from Thursday's game. Some sort of groin soreness. Probably from the 129 pitches during his no-hitter. Go figure no wonder he stunk so far.

Could be. But for an NL pitcher to go 129 pitches in one game is rare these days. That no hitter probably took some out of him. We were doing ok without him so make sure he's ok. Rangers blew the 2-0 lead in the 8th and then with 2 out in the 9th (now tied 2-2) Patton walked the #8 man and then gave up a game winning double to the 9th spot. Dude was hitting .224 Awful. The Rangers scratched Hamels from his scheduled start Thursday because of a sore left groin, and either Chi Chi Gonzalez or Anthony Ranaudo will be brought up from Triple-A to take his turn in the rotation. That's the latest I've seen. A couple more games like last night and they'll be out of it both mentally and physically...
Yep. Seems they go on a two week bender of runs production and good pitching. Then...NOT. Too inconsistent. I think the pitching corps is smoked except for Perez. Gallardo looks like he does not even want to be there. The Nick Martinez experiment has gone the path of Tepesch-Grimm. Holland needs to get back soon. Well a couple of more weeks and young blood is coming up. Banny can stock the BP with as many arms as he needs no matter how they perform:) Joey Gallo doing much better. He mountain climbed back over the Mendoza line going on a tear of HRs and RBI. However, the K-Monster still owns him. Yeah I seen that earlier in the week, Grand slam and three Ks in the same game. Would you rather be Texas fans, getting teased...or Yankee Fans, watching the '61 Yankees turn into the '62 Mets overnight? They'd been shut out or scored a single run I believe in 8 of the last 10 games. I haven't watched a game in over a week. They've just blown a 6 1/2 lead, got steamrolled by the Jays (who picked up Tulo and Price)...and mentally and physically they seemed to have quit. A team a veterans....are OLD. Didn't help that their GM, Brian Cashman picked up NO reinforcements at the trade deadline.
Looks like they ran out of gas before reinforcements could arrive from the minors... They're lucky the summer wasn't hotter they would have died a month or so ago... Do they really have anything worth trading?? Their farm system is "usually" the barest of them all... HA! Ain't that the truth? How GM Cashman couldn't figure out that the oldsters would wilt without MORE rest during the dog-days is just dumb. Their reinforcements were phantom. Cashman miscalulated as he usually does. The Yanks had ONE farm club hurler who's provides help, but NO bats, and NO additional refreshing energy from a trade.

The Mets really helped themselves before the trader deadline adding depth to their roster with Yoenis Cespedes, Tyler Clippard, Kelly Johnson, and Juan Uribe (which served as a wakeup call).Sandy Alderson deserves kudos given all the heat Mets fans have given him.
