You know I got to thinking and most of the minor league players that are just about ready for their shot at the bigs are LHed. So don't be surprised if they trade some of these guys for some RHed players in both the IF and OF.

We had a good 8th. 4-2 going to top 9th. Elvis triple, Choo sac fly, DD legged out a double and Odor drove him in. Another LHer did them in and he was a rookie too. Heard something the other day on MLB channel that the Cubs have had to face LHers for only about 50 innings so far this year. Seems like the Rangers have faced at least 35 "starts" by LHers and have lost just about every one of them. The only RH batter on the roster who is doing decently is DD and he's a rookie. Beltre is in another slump that makes at least 3 so far and only has 21 RBIs for the year. I was close they have 33 starts against LHers but they have more wins than I thought, 14 to be precise. According to the box score they had 11, batted 1-15 w/runners in scoring position. If you use the box score on the Rangers official website it shows how many runners are left on base by each batter. Seen the whole 1st inning on MLB Tonight, Harry was way up in the strike zone with all his pitches. He looks stiff like he can't bend over enough to get a better angle to keep his pitches down. If he can't get his motion sorted out then I don't think he'll be here long. Gotta get your pitches lower in the strike zone, especially when you're throwing only in the 80s. Neftali Feliz...too emotional. Buh-bye. Closers are a dime a dozen these days anyway. The Rangers made some noise...just before getting Hamilton back. What happened?? Closer problems? They've got a killer BP (Betances, Miller, etal), gotten resurgences from the old guys (Texiera and A-Rod), and SP staff that keeps them in games for 6 innings.
The Bosox game last nite? The guy quick-pitches as a weapon. Despite the sloppy fielding he shut the Yanks down. I would instruct my hitters to step out of the box....often in order to disrupt his rhythm.
Slugging under .400. The Yanks' Stephen Drew may only be hitting a buck-69 BUT is slugging around .375 with 12 dingers. Robinson Cano -- the gazillion dollar man -- is slugging the SAME as Drew (his second base replacement.) Brutal investment. Check out some of the slugging averages of some "stars" -- it's mind-blowing.

Right now, Gallardo, Colby Lewis and Wandy Rodriguez are the Rangers' most consistent pitchers, but they are free agents after the season. Then there are the three pitchers that the Rangers do have signed long term: Matt Harrison, Derek Holland and Martin Perez

Going into Sunday's game, his .289 batting average, 16 home runs, 46 RBIs, .335 on-base percentage and .538 slugging percentage were all career highs for the first half of a season. It's easy to see why Moreland feels this has been the best of his five seasons with the Rangers.
