Remember back when Democrat Congressman Jim Moran, U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 8th congressional district gave an interview where he said that Congress is underpaid at $174,000 a year and needs a raise because Americans need to understand that Congress is “the board of directors for the largest economic entity in the world”? Well, check out what the “board of directors” has been up to. According to watchdog groups Legistorm and CREW — Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington — a total of 297 members of Congress have earmarked $3,776,001,807 for organizations that are connected directly to them or to their family members. For just one example of how this works, check out this research into the conflicts of interest and crony dealings of Dem. Rep. Rosa DeLauro here — and she’s just one example. Other interesting tidbits: ◾85 family members of 67 Congresspeople have worked as federally registered lobbyists connected to lobbying contracts worth $1,207,764,582. ◾19 members of Congress have paid 19 family members a total of $6,876,026 from their congressional office payroll (including Rep. Moran who paid his daughter a salary of $53,353 for working on his campaign committee in 2010 — just saying). Cronyism rules the day in Washington. It’s all about who does the most fundraising. In fact, 91% of the time, it is the candidate with the most money who gets elected. That might be why the people we’re supposedly electing to help run things in this country are more concerned about fundraisers than their constituency and doing their actual their job. But I guess that’s obvious by now and goes without saying (even though I just said it anyway). And America just keeps re-electing these people. Despite the fact that Congress had a pathetic 10% approval rating in 2012, a whopping 90% of them were re-elected regardless. As Todd Phillips, founder of LocalElectors.org wrote, ” If ever there was an indication that democracy in American is broken, this is it… Members of Congress enjoy some of the best job security in America — and the least amount of accountability.” Why do we even go through the rigamarole of having elections? Why keep up pretenses that our system isn’t completely and utterly broken? It’s actually (sadly) a lot like this: “So come November, the choice is clear: do you want another spineless mouthpiece for special interests and lobbyists…or a spineless mouthpiece for special interests and lobbyists?” What America desperately needs is to bring charges against every and all corrupt activity in Washington. Throw the bastards in prison and seize everything they own under the RICO laws. It is also time to clean house in the Supreme Court who support a system that counts corporations as people for political benefit and yet does not hold them responsible for crimes because they are not people. Only then will you see change.

As long as there are lo-fo voters, I don't think there is hope. $$$ buys tv time with sound bites that they believe. I try to educate those around me. They're more interested in the latest Kardashian stunt. By the time they wake up, it will be too late.

If THIS abuse (as working families are struggling to get by) isn't headline news on ANY of the major MSM networks, then we are truly doomed. Isn't it enough that the American taxpayer is subsidizing 40 million illegal invaders AND another 30 million parasites (NOT including bureaucratic ticks who collect the revenue?) WHO is working a REAL job??! This isn't just a license to steal, it's a license to pillage and rape America. With impunity.
Yes, enforce RICO laws! These are mobsters flying NOT the American flag but the Skull & Bones. These theives and thugs make the Mafia seem like they run lemonade stands and Tupperware parties. Jensen, you really ought to be in the US Senate; A Governor. Or at least a judge. :-)

I'm getting much to old to consider that; besides, I believe a metamorphic change occurs to apparently well meaning newly elected Congressmen. Somewhere on the way to that abysmal pit we call DC, Satan enters the mind and body and they become devil zombies.
I've said this so many times some are perhaps getting sick of hearing it; however, Washington continues to resemble Madrid in 1936. Time for a major and radical surgery on the seat of the central socialist government: with a meat axe!

I agree. However, this nation is so divided by a thousand issues, that the carnage would result in a several Balkanized states (which would be a BEST case scenario.) There no longer is any semblance of a "United States" of America.
