To: buckeroo, Don (#0) Actually Texas is not a mess to respond to disasters. We do it quite often. West TX and Hurricane Rita come to mind as well as Katrina in the Gulf areas. Texas responded well. The locals pull together. When West TX had the fertilizer plant explosion local emergency response was well managed. Hundreds of local churches opened their doors for the homeless, fed hundreds, provided clothing and even work. If Bucky wants to know about preparations for solar flares or invasion by the elves and the gremlins or an end of the world, about the best he could do for long term survival is buy a couple of boxes of Hershey's Chocolate. What part of "end of the world," that they constantly talk about do they have a problem understanding? If the world ends as many of them predict, do they expect to live on a tiny slice of Mother Earth whizzing through the Galaxy while they are guzzling home brew?
