I don't particularly agree with such a decision. A more appropriate measure would have been tear-gassing his ass... But that's just me.
I can see the logic from the LAPD perspective, though... (and keep in mind, I despise them) From their viewpoint, he was a rabid dog, and needed to be put down.
Either way, I'm sure the LAPD will now return to the safety of their local Starbucks... After they get done with this mornings' funeral procession (which I saw going the other way, on my morning commute), of course.

Questions remain about the cabin went up in flames. Deputies were recorded on police radio calling on a plan to bring burners into the home.
Sheriff John McMahon on Wednesday denied that authorities intentionally burned down the cabin.

If Dorner was innocent, then most probably the police officer’s daughter was murdered by the LAPD.

Then, surely everything that Dorner did after that was legal, justified and a proper act of self-defense.

Dorner was an imminent threat to public safety, who might escape given time to do so.
There was no reason to wait and no expectation that waiting would change anything.
The 'hot' teargas that was deployed is an approved tactic in that situation.
The reason Dorner died is because he shot himself in the head, not because the cabin burned to the ground.
