Title: Israeli Lawmaker Destroys Copy Of The New Testament

JERUSALEM -- Calling the Christian faith’s New Testament a “despicable book,” a right-wing Israeli lawmaker tore up a copy of the biblical text and threw it in a trash can as one of his aides took pictures that he later released to Israeli media.

Lawmaker Michael Ben-Ari, of the far-right National Union Party, blamed Christianity and the New Testament for the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe that led to the slaughter of 6 million Jews during the Holocaust.

The copy of the New Testament had been sent to Israeli lawmakers by the Bible Society of Israel in an attempt to foster goodwill among the religions, according to a report Tuesday in Israel’s Maariv newspaper, which also published the photo of Ben-Ari destroying the book.

“Sending this book to [Knesset members] is a provocation, and the appropriate response is to send this book and what it represents to the rubbish bin of history,” Ben-Ari was quoted as saying. The Knesset is Israel's parliament.

Other lawmakers condemned the act as intolerant and disrespectful. Those who also received copies of the New Testament either ignored the gift or returned them, Maariv reported.

Ben-Ari is no stranger to controversy. He is a former member of the ultra-nationalist Kach Party, which Israel banned for supporting racism and violence against Arabs. His recent application to visit the United States was denied by American immigration officials, who cited their right to ban “terrorists” from entering the country. Of course, the man is too confused of mind to realize how offended he would be should someone destroy a Torah scroll.

Lately, redleghunter had a clip of a guy going around asking questions...mainly to young folks.

It was quite interesting in that he would ask a question and they either didn't know or a handful did know. The man pressed on further asking whas the historical person had done, etc.

Eventually, as the questioning progressed--and it delved into right and wrong, as in killing people, you could see some of the 'brain cogs' starting to turn as these younger people began to have the light of day shone on them.

They began to see that saying and doing can be two different things. How could they call it wrong for Hitler to have killed so many and yet it is ok for a mother to kill an unborn hunan.

They could not justify either one in the end.

The interviewer was not a religious fanatic. I don't know who he was, but I saw him as doing a great thing in getting young people to think about what they believe--to not just take a position beceuse it is the 'in thing'.

I pinged you redleghunter because I used your name (though not in vain)! LOL

Not a problem. The interviewer of "180" the movie is Ray Comfort. He is Jew who trust in Christ as Lord and Savior, so yes he is a Christian. I think Comfort made a good case that seculars and socialists were the culprits in convincing the German nation into the Holocaust.

Now on the above article. Brian S loves to throw pasta at the wall to see if it will stick. He posts and then won't answer responses to his own thread.

This Ben-Ari guy, used to post trash on LP. Ben-Ari isn't his real name from what I understand of the guy. He and one other strange individual were the only two I remember having had on my ignore list.
