Humor Title: Limbaugh: Batman Villain ‘Bane’ Could Be Conspiracy To Defeat Romney Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday suggested that Hollywood liberals have been plotting for years to release the third and final Batman movie before the election in 2012 with a villain who’s name sounds like GOP hopeful Mitt Romney’s former company, Bain Capital. “Do you know the name of the villain in this movie?” Limbaugh asked his listeners. “Bane. The villain in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is named Bane. B-A-N-E. What is the name of the venture capital firm that Romney ran and around which there is now this make-believe controversy? Bain.” “The movie has been in the works for a long time, the release date has been known — summer 2012 — for a long time,” he added. “Do you think that it is accidental that the name of the really vicious, fire-breathing, four-eyed, what-ever-it-is villain in this movie is named Bane?” “And now there’s discussion out there as to whether or not this was purposeful and whether or not it will influence voters. It’s going to have a lot of people. This movie, the audience is going to be huge. A lot of people are going to see the movie, and it’s a lot of brain-dead people, entertaining the pop-culture crowd. And they’re going to hear ‘Bane’ in the movie and they’re going to associate ‘Bain’ and the thought is that when they start paying attention to the campaign later in the year and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain — not Bain Capital — Romney and Bain that these people will think back to the bad man.” According to The Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe, Bane first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 in January 1993. It wasn’t until November of that same year that Romney took a leave of absence as the CEO of Bain Capital to challenge Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy (D). In December 2008, Batman director Christopher Nolan told USA Today that he already had “rough outlines” for the third “Dark Knight” film. Although it was widely assumed Romney would run for president in 2012, he officially announced his exploratory committee to seek the Republican nomination in April 2011. #3. To: Brian S (#0) (Edited) Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday suggested that Hollywood liberals have been plotting for years to release the third and final Batman movie before the election in 2012 with a villain who’s name sounds like GOP hopeful Mitt Romney’s former company, Bain Capital. Years????? LOL..... Talk about reading between the lines and inserting ca ca!! The Batman Campaign? July 17, 2012 BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Have you heard this new movie, the Batman movie, what is it, The Dark Knight Lights Up or whatever the name is. That's right, Dark Knight Rises. Lights Up, same thing. Do you know the name of the villain in this movie? Bane. The villain in The Dark Knight Rises is named Bane, B-a-n-e. What is the name of the venture capital firm that Romney ran and around which there's now this make-believe controversy? Bain. The movie has been in the works for a long time. The release date's been known, summer 2012 for a long time. Do you think that it is accidental that the name of the really vicious fire breathing four eyed whatever it is villain in this movie is named Bane? OBAMA: Somebody else made that happen. RUSH: In case you're wondering what's going on. I am so astounded by this I have told the broadcast engineer to play that whenever he feels like it. So he's on his own. He's getting no help from me. He can put that sound bite anywhere at any time he thinks it's called for. It's totally up to him. I don't know when it's gonna happen. I had Cookie roll off the little excerpt of that big, long bite, and this thing's gonna show up 'cause I can't tell you how it's affecting me. OBAMA: If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. RUSH: Just stop and think of that, just from the standpoint of logic. And then I had to read today that some conservative commentator, "Well, the president, he's right. He actually is right." I'm not gonna embarrass the guy by mentioning his name 'cause I'm not trying to pick a fight with the guy. I'm trying to point out that we have a bunch of people that want to be thought of as the smartest people in the room and the most reasonable and they don't want to be lumped in with me having a reactionary take on this. So they're going out of their way, "Oh, no, I don't think the president hates the country. Oh, no. No, no, no. In fact, I think the president, on some level it's obvious he's right, so simple to see." Then later on they point out their disagreements with it, but after that what's the point? So, anyway, this evil villain in the new Batman movie is named Bane. And there's now a discussion out there as to whether or not this is purposeful and whether or not it will influence voters. It's gonna have a lot of people. This movie, the audience is gonna be huge. A lot of people are gonna see the movie, and it's a lot of brain-dead people, entertainment, the pop culture crowd, and they're gonna hear Bane in the movie and they're gonna associate Bain. The thought is that when they start paying attention to the campaign later in the year, and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, Romney and Bain, that these people will think back to the Batman movie, "Oh, yeah, I know who that is." (laughing) There are some people who think it'll work. Others think you're really underestimating the American people to think that will work. OBAMA: You didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. RUSH: Right. (interruption) At the polls, will the brain-dead people show up at the polls? I don't know. See, I think you have to assume they will. I think you have to plan on the fact that they will show up and vote. No, just from the standpoint of you've gotta get your own turnout. You can't go into an election thinking, "Well, that group's not gonna show up. The young, yeah, they got disappointed. Obama's not who they thought he was. Ah, college students, they're not gonna show." You can't think that way. You have to think they're gonna show up. You have to count on it. You have to plan for it and come up with a way of neutralizing it.
The Bane character in this movie was a terrorist. He's out to destroy Gotham, New York City, which is the case in every Batman movie. But instead of sounding like Romney, he sounds like an Occupy Wall Street guy, in truth. Now, there's a story in the Washington Times Communities today: "Is Mitt Romney...Batman? -- Opponents of Mitt Romney have noticed that the name of Batman’s villain in the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises is homonymous with the name of an investment firm that Romney founded in 1984. The childish 'aha' moment was not unpredictable. Americans have tolerated condescension remarkably well for the past four years, so we can presumably take an insult to our ability to spell -- or ability to follow a storyline, for that matter." But, anyway, I didn't really know what the point of this story is. They're trying to point out that in Batman the good guy and the rich guy are one and the same, and that's Bruce Wayne. And so what this gal is saying here is: Hey, instead of falling in with the evil guy being Bane, let's just say Batman is Romney. Batman's Romney, he's the evil rich guy, he's the good rich guy, he's out to save New York. The rich guy's the good guy. Of course the evil guy is always rich too in these Batman movies. You may think it's ridiculous, I'm just telling you this is the kind of stuff the Obama team is lining up. The kind of people who would draw this comparison are the kind of people that they are campaigning to. These are the kind of people that they are attempting to appeal to. Choosing and voting for a presidential candidate is like picking which STD you want to suffer from…. #4. To: CZ82 (#3) will the brain-dead people show up at the polls The brain-dead people are the ones who listen to his show and believe this crap.
#5. To: NewsJunky (#4) will the brain-dead people show up at the polls Let me guess you think only idiots like these are worth listening to.... By the way he is correct most of those who go to the polls are braindead..... For instance look who they elected...... Choosing and voting for a presidential candidate is like picking which STD you want to suffer from…. #6. To: Fred Mertz (#2) What a freaking idiot...lol. Stop looking in the mirror Freddie...

#8. To: meguro (#7) Yep.
#9. To: Fred Mertz (#8) Where are boofer and war posting these days?
#10. To: meguro (#9) At a place called True Blue Liberty dot com Even sneakypete signed up and posts there. Boofer isn't there in the clear but some theorize he's under cover as Thunderbird. Lots of old timer screen names I recognize. They allow both sides of the spectrum to post and go to extremes to keep things civil. War likes giving 'em hell. I'm not enamored with the format but I've gotten used to it. I post infrequently. http://www.trueblueliberty.com/index.php?action=forum The majority of posters are ex-freepers. Check it out.
#11. To: meguro (#9) (Edited) TBL as they call it started slowly and recently gained many new members when JimRob posted a negative thread about it on FR and invited many to leave. Lots of threads about FR - fundraising, bannings and the like - which I tend to ignore. I got the boot in 2004 from FR - and that is ancient history although I did meet lots of fine folks there during my time. Politics to me these days is boring but I enjoy reading the banter.
#12. To: NewsJunky (#4) will the brain-dead people show up at the polls So is the reason you're mad is because the character Bane closely describes OWS and Obozo??? Choosing and voting for a presidential candidate is like picking which STD you want to suffer from…. #13. To: Fred Mertz, Badeye (#10) Boofer isn't there in the clear but some theorize he's under cover as Thunderbird. Stop telling lies you gin-soaked old rummy. Badeye posts on Facebook where pussies like you and the staten island fairy dare not tread.
