Health/Medical Title: Report: 83 percent of doctors have considered quitting over Obamacare Report: 83 percent of doctors have considered quitting over Obamacare By Sally Nelson Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association. The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court. Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65. By 2025 the shortage will balloon to over 130,000, Len Marquez, the director of government relations at the American Association of Medical Colleges, told The Daily Caller. “One of our primary concerns is that you’ve got an aging physician workforce and you have these new beneficiaries — these newly insured people — coming through the system,” he said. “There will be strains and there will be physician shortages.” The DPMA found that many doctors do not believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will lead to better access to medical care for the majority of Americans, co-founder of the DPMA Kathryn Serkes told TheDC. “Doctors clearly understand what Washington does not — that a piece of paper that says you are ‘covered’ by insurance or ‘enrolled’ in Medicare or Medicaid does not translate to actual medical care when doctors can’t afford to see patients at the lowball payments, and patients have to jump through government and insurance company bureaucratic hoops,” she said. (SEE ALSO: Jeremiah Wright: ‘White racist alien DNA’ running through synapses of Obama’s brain ) The American Medical Association, which endorsed Obama’s health care overhaul, was not able to immediately offer comment on the survey. Spokesperson Heather Lasher Todd said it would take time to review the information in the survey. Janelle Davis of the American Academy of Family Physicians said the AAFP could not provide thoughtful commentary without studying the survey’s findings and methodology. Quit their practices, and do what?

Of course, that is the goal. These newly insured Americans would have been visiting the ER for treatment, or they would be turned away from many providers, NOW they will be covered and receive quality care.
This is America - the greatest, wealthiest country in the world.
#3. To: Jameson (#2) Quit their practices, and do what? Some would probably go into research, some into teaching, some live off their savings in the hopes of some changes to come in the future, and others relocating to other nations. Relocating would certainly lower their overhead costs because they could just refuse to continue to pay off student loans, which are quite expensive for medical school. Eliminating the overhead costs for an office, equipment, personnel, etc., would greatly reduce the need for a higher income than say what a researcher or professorship would provide. Relocating would lower costs all the way around--privately and professionally. As for America being the richest nation....dream on. We are undoubtedly the biggest debtor nation, as well as the people being mired down in credit card debt. We print money like Kodak prints pictures for customers. And given the employment numbers we are seeing AND not seeing, like the average unemployment at 8.2, but other groups, i.e., hispanics and blacks running 13% to over 16% respectively, how will all this grand new medical coverage be paid for? Without a job how do you even make a partial premium payment, or how do you pay a copay? Emergency rooms can only take up so much slack.....and even emergency rooms have been shutting down over the last few years.....in some part because of liability issues. A balloon only stretches so far before it breaks. When we finally realize all this great freebie medical stuff gets here, we're going to find, just like Oregon and their wonderful medical plan, instead of all conditions being covered, there will be a list of conditions that are covered, and it will start getting shorter and shorter. Abd further, there is a waiting list to get into the program. I, tongue in cheek, the other day, wrote something to the effect that the list will come down to 49 conditions being covered. And that of that 49, 45 will consist of diagnosis and treatment being take 2 aspirins and call me in the morning. There will be one for hangnails; another for baldness; another for ringing in the ears (only if caused by wax); and the last condition hasn't been determined yet--but it will surely be a doozie.

My best friend and his wife- both doctors (who had at one point asked me to go to med school with them)- did exactly that. They're in New Zealand now. They're trying to convince me to move there... though I don't believe that there's any place "safe" from the elitists, any more. "Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one's self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." Michael Rivero #5. To: mcgowanjm (#1) but see there's no alternative...so they stay. Some good some bad but there are always alternatives........ If they are old enough and have everything pretty much in place for retirement why not say to hell with the headaches and head out the door. With the new laws they won't be making money anymore so why waste the time going to work, retire and find something else to do to keep occupied..... piss on what the government wants you to do!!! Choosing and voting for a presidential candidate is like picking which STD you want to suffer from…. #6. To: CZ82 (#5) Some good some bad but there are always alternatives........ Because they're hopelessly in debt....just off the top of my head. And I can think of others...;} Dropping down the Class Ladder will be no fun.....;}
#7. To: mcgowanjm (#6) I know many doctors through work, church, etc. While it may be true those under 50 still are in debt, nothing could be further from the truth for those above 50, and that is the group who are fed up and will be retiring. Socialized medicine is a nightmare in Russia and East Europe, and according to Russian friends living in the UK it's even worse.
#8. To: GarySpFC (#7) I know many doctors through work, church, etc. How a Spec Op can believe in church is beyond me.... like this:

#9. To: GarySpFC (#7) (Edited) Socialized medicine is a nightmare in Russia and East Europe, and according to Russian friends living in the UK it's even worse. What's worse than a nightmare? And the Russians were able to survive the collapse of the USSR BECAUSE of Soviet Housing/Work rules. Waiting for the West....see UK for details.........to understand this......;}
#10. To: mcgowanjm (#6) Because they're hopelessly in debt....just off the top of my head. That's only if they are married to the typical thin skinned/shallow spouse!! Choosing and voting for a presidential candidate is like picking which STD you want to suffer from…. #11. To: mcgowanjm, ALL (#9) What's worse than a nightmare? Baloney! My wife and her family suffered the collapse of the USSR, you didn't. They worked for months with no pay, and the only reason their homes wwere not forclosed on was because the banks were bankrupt, and no one could purchase the homes. My wife was director of a large school, and begged parents for Bubles to keep it opsen. The only communists you see in Russia are total failures. All they do is sit in front of the Communist Party Headquarters eating Lay's Potato Chips and drinking Pepsi. They are the scum of the earth.
#12. To: GarySpFC (#11) Baloney! My wife and her family suffered the collapse of the USSR, you didn't. You don't know WTF I've done and lived thru. And I've never been to Mars, but I know what conditions are like there. "They worked for months with no pay," But took home the products they made to make up the difference. Imagine that happening in the USSA....they'd be shot on sight. "and the only reason their homes wwere not forclosed on was because the banks were bankrupt, and no one could purchase the homes. " OOO NONONONO.
Slide [9] One important element of collapse-preparedness is making sure that you don't need a functioning economy to keep a roof over your head. In the Soviet Union, all housing belonged to the government, which made it available directly to the people. Since all housing was also built by the government, it was only built in places that the government could service using public transportation. After the collapse, almost everyone managed to keep their place. In the United States, very few people own their place of residence free and clear, and even they need an income to pay real estate taxes. People without an income face homelessness. When the economy collapses, very few people will continue to have an income, so homelessness will become rampant. Add to that the car-dependent nature of most suburbs, and what you will get is mass migrations of homeless people toward city centers.
#13. To: GarySpFC (#11) The only communists you see in Russia are total failures. TWO all inclusives in one short sentence. First Rule of T/F quizzes: All inclusives are automatically False.....;} Ex: "All they do is sit in front of the Communist Party Headquarters eating Lay's Potato Chips and drinking Pepsi." "They are the scum of the earth."
Spoken like a True missionary. Going to save them one Commie at a time. And then go to Heaven to get your well deserved wings.....;} The fact that Russia lets folks like you hang around invalidates your statements.....;}
#14. To: CZ82 (#10) Because they're hopelessly in debt....just off the top of my head. We're talking Doctors here. Hopelessly in debt....and it's.....wait.for. it.... the woman's fault. Jesus H Christ...this is definitely a Woman Hating site. You've picked up the Romney MEme and run with it.
#15. To: mcgowanjm (#14)
I can't help it that the truth hurts.... By the way who said that doctors were all men??? Sounds like you're not giving women enough credit for their hard work and amount of brains they have... The last one I seen was a woman and she was .....(how should I say this)..... "very interesting" to say the least!! Romneys MeMe??? LOL.... Don't you mean the Leftards women hating meme with Sharia Law and all!! Or "supposedly" giving them better healthcare when in reality they are taking it away from them.... Choosing and voting for a presidential candidate is like picking which STD you want to suffer from…. #16. To: mcgowanjm (#12) You don't know WTF I've done and lived thru. And I've never been to Mars, but I know what conditions are like there. I don't doubt for a minute you are familiar with Mars, OTOH, your knowledge of Russian conditions is nonexistent. "They worked for months with no pay," But took home the products they made to make up the difference. Imagine that happening in the USSA....they'd be shot on sight. What do you think school teachers took home? "and the only reason their homes wwere not forclosed on was because the banks were bankrupt, and no one could purchase the homes. " OOO NONONONO. Ding, ding, ding, when the SU collapsed everyone was given the home they occupied. However, they were responsible for upkeep expenses.
Or to farming areas where food is plentiful.
