I believe that I could, if I chose, in short order produce a list of less than hundred employees of police agencies in a certain area of New York state and his name would be on it.
If I dedicated 4-5 hours, I could narrow it down to less than a dozen policing employees in that area. But I won't because I do respect his privacy, as I respect others' privacy. These are supposed to be anonymous forums. If you want more info, go haunt Facebook IMO.
It's all forum-bait fun (which he dishes out too) to call GI a mall cop, a campus cop, or a bathhouse/gay-bar "cop" (or did you guys miss that one?).
But if you have actually paid any attention over time, you would know he is what he says he is.
I find generally that, when he hasn't been baited to distraction, he provides many key insights into policing mentality, the difficulties of recruiting and training police, the frustrations of trying to police in a liberal state with plenty of ambulance-chasing scumbag lawyers, etc. And I notice that he doesn't run with the Posse always on specific cases when they are trying to out-jackboot everyone in sight. He takes serious positions consistent with extensive police legal training and experience of the courts and civil/constitutional rights.
Just don't go back over to LP and quote me as saying any nice things about him over here. If accused, I'll just claim that I wuz hacked.

It would be falling off a log easy if somebody were really interested because in his early days he pretty much identified the police agency he claimed to work for,and even identified his position in that agency.

To be honest,I'm not really sure the Grand Island that posts here now is the same Grand Island that used to post here. I am half-convinced somebody,maybe somebody living in Alaska,stole his on-line ID,and the real Grand Island has no idea about any of this happening.
I am sure the one posting now is a phoney cop,though. IF it is the original poster known as Grand Island,he has always been a poser. A wannabe cop,and judging form some of his earlier posts where he mostly wrote about busting college kids and posting to LP when he was supposed to be on duty,a campus cop. No real cop would have all that free unsupervised time to be posting to a internet board while on duty.

Ummm...interesting.
If your account ID does get stolen, unless you check your own posting history or someone points out your weirdly inconsistent posts, you might never know someone had guessed your password (or used your computer when you weren't around at home or office). Or "GrandIsland" could be an account for several officers in a policing department working different shifts, something they read in spare time just for grins.
In my locale, we have county sheriffs who could abandon their county for an entire month and no one would ever even notice their absence other than not stopping in for coffee at the local watering holes. Now, if a crime or accident occurs, their absence would be noted.
Anyway, to an extent you have to take people in anonymous forums at the word. Otherwise you can dream up any conspiracy theory that suits your fancy and operate under those assumptions, whether you have any evidence or not.
The strongest single value in these forums is that they host regular articles in a single place on news topics you want to know about. And to increase your understanding of media bias and to build your knowledge base on a topic and to sharpen your debating skills in case you ever enter a public debate. Everything else in an online forum (or Facebook) is subject to manipulation.

AFAIK, the only indications of donations from the Posse were from Gatlin. The others are freeploaders. Like us. LOL.
Have to admit, my years at FR and observations of other sites have made me very reluctant to donate to an online forum, even in puny amounts.
