During a campaign stop in New Hampshire last week, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney casually mentioned his father was born in Mexico, a part of his life that he wasnt really discussing until he realized it was time to get the Latino vote.
Romneys grandfather fled to Mexico to avoid anti-polygamy laws and thats one of the complaints from Mexicans to Romney: Mexico opened its doors to your ancestors but you oppose immigration reform in the United States?
Romney's Grandparents LEGALLY immigrated to Mexico, and then Romney's parents LEGALLY returned to the US when he was a child, but it's unfair and hypocritical for Romney to oppose ILLEGAL immigration?
BTW,did anyone else notice that the Romney relatives that remained in Mexico all speak Spanish and consider themselves to me Mexicans, instead of still speaking English, considering themselves to still be Americans, and demanding that Mexico accomodate them?

I think they all still hold American citizenship. Mexico doesn't let just anyone have citizenship.
During the Twenties, there was a Mexican Revolution. The Romney clan fled the unrest for a time, staying Arizona. Mitt's dad never went back to Mexico with the rest of the clan (Mitt's second cousins in Mexico). George Romney started with nothing in this country, became American Motors CEO. And that is how we ended up with Mittster.
