Yes, PO, as well as the quickly-accelerated crisis of the biosphere, make this economic collapse very different from the 1910s and 1930s, make any "recovery" pretty much impossible even with a global war.

Well, yes, but until we can light fires with lightening bolts from our hands, or live like First Nation as Hunter/Gatherers, then Economic Collapse is Peak Oil.

As Debt is Information Over run based on Energy Return on Future Consumption.

As Every Civiliation before can attest.

The only difference this time is the Extremely High EROEI we've enjoyed this last 150 years. Note the MAny Parabolic Curves that have resulted and which are now coming back down to Baseline.

Greece stands on the verge of an energy crisis caused not by lack of energy, but lack of money within the energy sector. This will become a common refrain throughout Europe and beyond in the coming months and years. Loss of liquidity has a cascading effect on supply chains, causing them to seize up.

Illargi misses this one.

The grand euro experiment is grinding toward its ultimate conclusion, this can be seen in the petroleum markets. The chart by Bloomberg:

Image

Here we see what happens when a belief system dies. The grinding part is caused by the high price of petroleum. It has cost so little for so long the entire machinery world has been built up around it. A low price has been assumed forever. Now fuel is unaffordable by a large and increasing part of the world economy: the part that has been charged with servicing the world’s debt.

The outcome of the high price has been demand destruction with resulting sharp fall in the price: down then up then down again. The public naively believes the decline in price is an unadulterated ‘good thing’ but prices fall today because something important has died … such as a country.(My Edit: Spain....

The problem for you, A K A, is that the bible is a Story.

A Faith&Believe story.

"I spend a lot of time on DOTE(Decline of the Empire;) talking about reality versus fantasy so you too will learn to see how people typically "think" about the Big Issues.

It turns out they don't think much at all (i.e. don't engage in rational thought, Kahneman's System 1).

Fundamentally, human beings were designed by nature for Faith & Belief, not for rational thought (System 2). I've known that for years and years now because if you actually look as objectively as possible at what goes on in this world, which is what I have tried to do, that's what you see over and over again.

However, the word "story" is neutral, and therefore calling a narrative "a story" effectively divorces it from whatever truth it might contain. Here's a good-enough definition in the intended sense.

An account or recital of an event or a series of events, either true or fictitious, as:

a. An account or report regarding the facts of an event or group of events: "the witness changed her story under questioning."

b. An anecdote: "came back from the trip with some good stories."

c. A lie: "told us a story about the dog eating the cookies."

The whole point of science, which led to human "subjugation" of the natural world as a desired side-effect, and whole point of data-based analysis of current and historical events, was to contruct narratives (called "theories") which were based in fact & observation, and subject to change based on new evidence.

A good theory should be falsifiable, i.e. subject to testing. Otherwise, it is merely a story which may be true or fictitious (see below). The whole point was for some humans to stop telling such stories about how the world works, about events and about each other. Such stories don't need to be grounded in anything. They can be fabricated from whole cloth, and often are.

Right up until the 16th century, all humans had been telling each other stories, often self-justifying, self-serving stories, for tens of thousands of years. Surely it comes as no surprise that the overwhelming majority of people still do that.

So you admit that evolution isn't a science. It is not testable. Nice to see someone being honest.

Oh you hypocrite. You can't test millions of years. And nothing has ever witnesses to have evolved. Do you think some day you will plant a tomato plant and it will magically through evilution change into something else. Or if you plant grass seed it might magically start producing some kind of new fruit through evilution? Evolution is nonsense. It is a fairy tale by satan for the stupid and gullible who don't want to follow the true way God told us about.

I pity the fool who thinks we evolved. I will add that many of the people who have the false belief system known as evolution, really just want to fuck monkeys.
