A bill put forward by Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) would do what libertarians and conservatives have long wished for: effectively end the Federal Reserve.

The National Emergency Employment Defense (NEED) Act of 2011 would place the Federal Reserve, a private, qusai-governmental institution that controls the nation’s monetary policy, under control of the U.S. Treasury. It would also implement new rules for the financial industry, in hopes of ending the worst abuses that created the 2008 financial collapse and the ensuing recession.

Listening to Kucinich speak about the Fed, one gets the sense that he’s moved even closer to the position typically championed by his polar opposite in the House, arch-conservative Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), currently a candidate for the Republican nomination to the presidency.

Paul and Kucinich have both long agreed that something must be done about the Fed, formed by an act of Congress in 1913 as a way of stabilizing the banking industry. Both men have vocally supported audits of the Fed’s accounts, but Kucinich has not gone as far as Paul in most of his advocacy. Until now.

“Ten million homes are in jeopardy,” he explained in a recent plea for support published to YouTube. “Fourteen million people out of work. Fifty million without health care. Endless wars. The Fed creates money out of nothing, gives it to banks, banks keep it on deposit, gain interest, pay high bonuses — fat city...

Economics is a social phenomenon and in no way a “science”, no matter how desperately its high priests would like to have it believed otherwise. It is, instead, a branch of anthropology and the sooner that is recognized and accepted, the better off human-kind in general and the world of academic economics, in particular, shall be proximity1

We probably will see widespread civil disorder in the 1980s, as a direct result of our faltering economic system. Ron Paul

Swell, then congress and the prez can directly order the FED to create money. No more going to a private FED, now it's federal. Not too comforting for Boehner, Reid, and O'bungler to have direct access to the money making machine.

Kucinich sort of has the right idea, but is taking the wrong approach. The dollar is still worthless paper not backed up by anything of real value. Inflation would continue along with other tax increases mandated by congress and the prez.

Why?

Getting lonely, and cruising for a piece of ass??? Ugh.

Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? Hey, it was the dummy DwarF who bragged about being into "synthetics."

And I thought all the previous posts about him wearing spandex were mere hyperbole...

Awww, Jeez...... How WRONG I was, in giving the dummy the benefit of the doubt.

Ah, so 30-something SUV drivers should be punished for not being environmental friendly but 50-something polyester wearers should be exempt.

We understand your hypocrisy quite well. :):):)

Seriously, nothing breaths like cotton.

You are sweating up a storm for no reason...

Natural fabrics. Natural fibers. That's way better than the synthetics for a big variety of reasons.

That's especially important in cold weather, the drier you stay the warmer you stay......especially your extremities like feet, hands and head!!!!

I quit wearing cotton socks a long time ago in winter and my feet stay much warmer for much longer periods of time......

Just about every sport now has some sort of lycra based product as a foundation. Football and hockey players started wearing support hose back in the 70's before such clothing became the mega dollar industry that it is now. There's a new line of compression wear dedicated solely to supporting whatever major muscle group is used the most.

Frankly, tho, it really doesn't matter what kind of shorts you wear when you bike...your ass gets sore after an hour anyway. It's a given...
