Cain appears to have weathered the storm. Perry's been 'done' for almost 3 weeks. Its laughable anyone tries to compare his implosion to McCain, given there is nothing remotely similiar about the two other than both were in 4th place at one point in a primary race.
mcCain didn't blow 22 points in all the polls in 21 days. McCain was never the 'front runner' from the moment he entered the race.
A more accurate comparision would be Thompson or Guiliani in 08.
Cain has raised a million dollars in the last two days. His poll numbers aren't dropping. The story has shifted to the leaker's Perry campaign connections.
To date no one has even described the behavior that supposedly made these women 'uncomfortable'.

First off, anyone claiming that this hasn't hurt in the polls is challenged by reality. It takes 3-4 days to gather data on a specific point and another day to compile it. There is no current poll which will measure any impact or lack of it to this point.
Secondly, if the Cain campaign believed that this issue was "over" they a) wouldn't be pointing fingers and b) their candidate wouldn't be talking about it.
The genesis of this issue is, to this point, a matter of the women trying to get a "waiver" to come forward with their story. At some point, Cain is going to answer directly to them...

Cain isn't hurt by their accusations. It has been leaked that one of them was paid $35,000 to end the suit,which is basically "just shut up and go away because it is cheaper to pay you this than it is to go to court" money. If she had had a real case instead of a "he said/she said" case she would have gotten a lot more money out of it.
What's going to hurt Cain isn't some bogus claim. What's going to hurt him is him continually changing the story about it. This means he HAD to have been lying at one point or another. With politics it seems like it's always the coverup that kills the career,not the actual charges. After all,if he will lie about something that simple,it's obvious he will lie about important things.

i think most people on the right have dismissed this story as the smear it obviously was. There are a contingent of supporters of Anita Perry's husband who are still pushing it but they are a shrill minority at this point.
Unless there is a little baby Herman we don't know about I'd say this 'scandal' has run its course, at least in the minds of Republican primary voters.

Kind of reminds me of the campaign to smear our ex governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, when he was running for office.
