Humor Title: Va. Tea Party Says City Favors Occupy Protesters (10-27) 14:39 PDT Richmond, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia tea party group is demanding a refund of about $8,000 from the city of Richmond, claiming it was unfairly charged for rallies while Occupy protesters have used the same space for several weeks for free. The political organization is sending the city an invoice for the charges incurred for three rallies held in Kanawha Plaza over the past three years. The Occupy protesters have been camped in the plaza since Oct. 15. Richmond Tea Party spokeswoman Colleen Owens says it's not fair that her group had to pay fees for permits, portable toilets, police and emergency personnel. The group also had to purchase a $1 million insurance policy. Tea party groups in Charlottesville, Va., Atlanta and Washington, D.C., have raised similar complaints. Here's a serious question: Is our Constitutional right of assembly trumped by local ordinances? If our 1A rights are subject to 'no-camping' regulations, what time does curfew begin? 11pm? Would you complain if they moved it to an earlier time? In effect, once you agree with the position that local authorities can regulate 'assembly', just what are the limits? Why not, say, limited to between 2pm-3pm for public safety issues? (That is, non commute times.) Now, let's jump over to the 2A. Do you agree that the 2A is trumped by local/state ordinances? If yes, which ones do you agree with? Do you agree with registration? If not, why not? If the 1A can be subject to permits, fees, etc, why not the 2A? I'm having a hard time reconciling FR's position on this whole affair with regards to basic Constitutional rights. Just how far can they be regulated? What if JR's original march (in a wheel chair) was circumscribed by arbitrary time limits? What's the difference between shutting down the mall @ 1pm or 11pm? Because it's dark?

To: therightliveswithus The OWS and Occupy anything and everything slime is the gift that keeps on giving. They represent ... everything that is anathema --- to civilized society. They are galvanizing all that are civilized and have human characteristics. They are representative of a society that is not human in any sense of the word:they pee and excrete at will in anything other than a toilet and they espouse that which cannot support a civilized society in any such environment as they joyfully espouse or create by their occupy actions and deeds?
