Historical Title: Justice Stevens (Ret.) Explains It All: Bush's Presidency Was First Step Toward Fascism And now comes retired Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens to assure the nation that what we thought happened in 2000 really did happen: Five justices kowtowed to the obscene request of an over-reaching mob of democracy molesters to hand the presidency of the United States and leadership of the world as we then knew it to the least son of a family that made its fortune supporting Hitler, and acquired its US political currency when the pater familias worked as second-banana to the most banal leader in modern history, Ronald Reagan. Huffington Post has reported that Stevens wrote, regarding the stay that allowed the execrable Florida recount/revision to take place, “What I still regard as a frivolous stay application kept the court extremely busy for four days." Stevens also noted that “no justice has ever cited the opinions that provided the basis for their ruling.” Fascism at its best―by, for and in aid of the most lucrative heist in American history. A government was stolen, the wealth of the nation transferred into the hands of a very few ill-meaning men and women, and the noble experiment once known as the United States of America, and regaled as the first truly workable nominal democracy in history, was flung on the dung-heap of unbridled ambition by those of minimal intellect and even less ability. Yesterday, I wrote that, “Oddly enough, the term communist is virtually never applied to the institutions negating the effects of elections.”
Target populations A few brave journalists have written about the theft of two presidential elections, notably Naomi Wolf. She lays out in stunning and accurate detail in a Guardian article, Fascist America, in ten easy steps, the ways in which America became a fascist state under George W. Bush. Dissent, if you dare
Assange, test case for global reach of US fascism If that isn’t fascist behavior, I don’t know what is. And still, a great many Americans think they live in a democracy. It is no democracy when journalists critical of the government can be detained while traveling and questioned for hours simply because they pointed out flaws in governmental conduct. This has happened to Naomi Wolf. It is no democracy when the population knows so little about the world that they can demand punishment for treason for a person who is not a citizen of that nation. Right-wing forums fairly sang with demands to bring Assange to the US and try him for treason, a crime applicable only to citizens of the nation in question. Assange is Australian. Australia has no problem with him; it wasn’t their execrable conduct he exposed. His conduct is not and never was definable as treason. It is journalism, or whistleblowing…but not treason.
Democracy on the skids It should be an even bigger hint when one realizes that the 1997 Reed amendment, which prohibits a renunciant from EVER entering the US again if the US thinks they left for tax reasons, doesn’t reduce renunciation rates. Indeed, even those who exit for tax reasons generally don’t cite money as the issue; they cite taxation without representation. The US is the only nation which requires its ex-pats to pay taxes to the US as well as to the new nation of residence. That is NOT a tax issue; it is a freedom issue. It is estimated that there are more than 500,000 ex-pats. Some will be ex-pats simply because their work situation demanded they live abroad where the company they work for does business. Many others have, however, availed themselves of opportunities for citizenship by descent in the Republic of Ireland, the UK, Italy…and possibly a few other nations that recognize that children and grandchildren of their citizens might be assets and allow them to claim citizenship. Too smart to run off at the mouth Or maybe he did. Maybe he was trying to explain to the American people just how totally the Bush cabal had co-opted American freedom, how boldly they engineered the birth of a newly fascist state. I can’t imagine that anyone as smart as Stevens wouldn’t have known what revealing the Court’s clandestine political engineering would signal. I can’t imagine it. It’s clear as a bell: the day the US Supreme Court issued a stay for the Bush Florida recount was the day the US began to be a nation ruled by jackbooted fascists in politician’s clothing. She is also too freaking stupid to realize that we are not and have never been a democracy in the legal sense, and all the Un-Constitutional laws her Dim heroes have foisted off on us have led us towards a democracy, and that THIS is why we are on a downhill roll towards fascism. Democracy ALWAYS leads to fascism because it is nothing more than mob rule, and mob rule always leads to demands for law and order to stop the riots.
