For some people, dinosaurs represent the heart of evolution and millions of years. These fearsome reptiles act as a sort of mascot for an earth more ancient than we can even conceive, and, recently, many scientists have ascribed to nature the mysterious power to turn their scales into feathers, and the beasts themselves into birds. I think the dinosaurs are overblown in more than just size as far as proof for or against Evolution is concerned. The Synapsida is where the action really is on proving or disproving Evolution and the subject is virtually ignored by the creationists. Proof of Evolution in the Synapsids / Mammals: 1. The fossil record shows a DEFINITE and UNDENIABLE gradual shrinking of the quadrate / articular jaw hinge in the Cynodont group of Synapsids and the eventual migration of these bones to the middle ear region of the skull to become the mammalian ear ossicle and hammer bones. 2. Marsupials (mammals that are born as virtual abortions due to their primitive reproductive system) undergo an essentially "living fossil synapsid" stage in their development where they retain the quadrate / articular jaw hinge and use it to attach themselves to the mother's mammary glands in her pouch more effectively than the mammalian squamosal / dentary jaw hinge would allow. Marsupial development from this stage is virtually identical to the shrinking and migration of this jaw hinge to the middle ear as the squamosal / dentary jaw hinge forms that is shown with Cynodont Synapsids in the fossil record.

Such big animals required a higher than current level of O2 and a huge food supply to exist. Sounds like Stone believes in rapid climate change and the dangers of high levels of C02.
