Cult Watch Title: Earthquakes and hurricanes, oh my
Many Americans are scratching their heads today wondering what in the world is going on with a rare earthquake hitting the East Coast to be followed by a hurricane a few days later. It reminds us that our world can change very quickly. Things don't always stay the same. Occasionally God really does shake things up as a sign to us of the consequences of disobedience and indifference to our Creator. Yes, I really believe that. I welcome the ridicule that will inevitably come from a statement like that. It sounds like foolishness to anyone whose life is not centered around the Creator of the universe. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest Occasionally God really does shake things So we are God's version of the Sims game? He just plays with us for the lulz? With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Capitalism and the America that embraced it as a way of life is now and forever more a failure. It does me good to know that the generation that voted in Reagan and his ideology will see their America die from that ideology before their very own eyes and knowing they had a hand in its destruction. #2. To: Skip Intro (#0) the fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom which sort of explains why you are such an idiot Obama has played at being a president while enjoying the perks … golf, insanely expensive vacations at tax-payer expense. He has ignored the responsibilities of the job; no plans, no budgets, no alternatives … just finger pointing; making him a complete failure as a president #3. To: Godwinson (#1) I'm really surprised that Crazy Sally didn't post this on her site. I guess she missed it because he didn't include Israel as a cause.

#5. To: Skip Intro (#0) I welcome the ridicule that will inevitably come from a statement like that. Good. Asshole. America...My Kind Of Place... "I truly am not that concerned about [bin Laden]..." "THE MILITIA IS COMING!!! THE MILITIA IS COMING!!!" I lurk to see if someone other than Myst or Pookie posts anything... #6. To: war (#5) Seriously, are you ready for this Irene whichever course she takes?
#7. To: mininggold (#4) A basic course in geology should be a requirement for every school kid to graduate. The whackjobs are still seething because God didn't take advantage of the Loma Prieta quake to level the Castro district in SF.

But my friend's home in Los Gatos ended up three feet off it's foundation, and she was a good Pubby at the time. She found out that her fairly new house wasn't even actually bolted to the foundation, so guess what? We got a whole set of new regulations and inspections, because contractors wanted to cut corners.
#9. To: mininggold (#8) But my friend's home in Los Gatos ended up three feet off it's foundation, and she was a good Pubby at the time. Yeah, rich, conservative Los Gatos got the crap kicked out of it.
#10. To: Fred Mertz (#6) Life is what happens when you're making plans...will be what it is...my house is surrounded by trees that the average age of is probably, oh, 500 years give or take a decade. Going to be interesting, fur shore... America...My Kind Of Place... "I truly am not that concerned about [bin Laden]..." "THE MILITIA IS COMING!!! THE MILITIA IS COMING!!!" I lurk to see if someone other than Myst or Pookie posts anything... #11. To: war (#10) (Edited) Many of the local country folks have a similar attitude - when your number's up it's up. In a way I agree, but if there are preventative measures to take, one should take them. Two folks I knew died of colon cancer this past year, one 59 and the other about 64. Guess what medical procedure I'm going to have next month? No need to answer.
#12. To: Skip Intro (#9) Yeah, rich, conservative Los Gatos got the crap kicked out of it. Her house was eventually reunited with it's foundation, but she refused to spend one more night in Los Gatos after the earthquake.
#13. To: Skip Intro, no gnu taxes, war, Fred Mertz, mininggold (#0) Also, if God is punishing these people, why should the none punished states get involved and help out? They would be going against God's judgment and trying to make it easier on the sinful. How will they learn? With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Instead it was the Marina, where the better-off live that was hard hit. "...all of the equations in neoclassical economics are rubbish. The differential equations describe nothing. Economics is not about mathematics, it is about the human being." Sandeep Jaitly #15. To: Skip Intro (#0) God has been in a bad mood since hObamacare passed, then NY passed hommo marriage which got Him started on a jihad against the east coast.
Obama's watch stopped on 24 May 2008, but he's been too busy smoking crack to notice. #16. To: mininggold (#4) A basic course in geology should be a requirement for every school kid to graduate. I love geology. GEOLOGIC COLUMN A precise hierarchy of fossilized animals and plants of known age found in successive layers of stratified rock with the simplest and oldest at the bottom and the most highly evolved, i.e., most recent, at the top. Uninterrupted columns of this type may be found in any book of geology, paleontology or evolution. Bits and pieces of the column may even be found in the stratified rocks of the earth, but since these layers are often out of correct order and very incomplete, one should study the geologic column in books, not nature. INDEX FOSSILS Fossils of animals whose ages are precisely known from the age of the rocks in which they are found, thus, serving as a means for accurately dating the rocks in which they are found as well as the age of any other fossils that may be contained therein. Obama has played at being a president while enjoying the perks … golf, insanely expensive vacations at tax-payer expense. He has ignored the responsibilities of the job; no plans, no budgets, no alternatives … just finger pointing; making him a complete failure as a president #17. To: no gnu taxes (#16) I love geology. Maybe with more emphasis on geologic forces.
#18. To: Fred Mertz (#11) Guess what medical procedure I'm going to have next month? It's not that bad, if you forget about the night before. I suggest weighing yourself the day of the procedure. It will make you happy.
#19. To: Godwinson (#13) Also, if God is punishing these people, why should the none punished states get involved and help out? This is true. I don't recall reading about anyone coming to the aid of Sodom and Gomorrah.
