U.S. Constitution Title: Steve King on default: Obama could be impeached Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said Monday that President Barack Obama “would be impeached” if the nation falls into default. “STOP talking about default,” he wrote on Twitter. “The 1st dime of each $1 of revenue services debt. Obama would be impeached if he blocked debt payments. C C & B!” King is among the House Republicans who voted for the so-called “Cut, Cap and Balance” plan that would introduce a constitutional amendment to require a balanced budget. The Senate last week dismissed the House bill. King isn’t the first Republican to suggest that Obama should be impeached over the debt crisis. Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said earlier this month it would be “an impeachable offense” for Obama to raise the debt ceiling without congressional approval. In April, former Reagan administration official Bruce Fein drafted articles of impeachment in hopes that House Republicans would introduce them. And Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) in March said the air attacks on Libya are impeachable acts.

#2. To: Mad Dog (#1) ANY president who wrecks this nation should be impeached. What happened to Abraham Lincoln within the formal impeachment processes and procedures? He performed his treacherous cunning at the beginning of his presidency, too. And not one "peep" from anyone.
#3. To: buckeroo (#2) What happened to Abraham Lincoln within the formal impeachment processes and procedures? Nothing at all you vile piece of shit. President Lincoln was already F ing DEAD you vile piece of shit. (Btw you vile piece of shit, MY ancestor fought for North Carolina, after being conscripted from a blockade runner from Erin's shores to Charleston's harbor.) So what was your point you vile piece of shit? As if I care.
#4. To: Mad Dog (#3) You said: ANY president who wrecks this nation should be impeached. So, please explain how "being DEAD" exempted Abraham Lincoln from being impeached during his early years of presidential tenure. Thank you in advance.

In the real world you vile piece of shit. No such charge was made other than by supporters an active violent rebellion, (Civil WAR/WAR between the States). Lincoln was kind of busy fighting an actual WAR against the people who would make such a charge against him, you gibbering piece of shit. But this isn't really about Lincoln is it you vile piece of shit? LOL! And YOU "think" that YOU are "bullet proof"/"immune"/"safe" eh fuckwad? LMAOAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FTW

#10. To: harrowup (#8) Should ave, could ave, Should ave, could ave, Should ave, could ave, Should ave, could ave, .... Really? What good is habeus corpus if the NATION ceases to exist? Was the thinking at the time. THEY didn't know who was going to WIN. THEY were fighting for SURVIVAL. Ever been to Arlington? Ever seen how close it is to the capitol? They weren't fighting just with mere words man, they were hand to hand cold steel to cold steel. Only silly children complain about such HISTORICAL actions, those children can have no idea NOW what the people , the AMERICANS of then, were engaged in, which was a literal WAR for survival. The DEAD have zero right to "habeus corpus", do they? I see your point, it just seems absurd to me, given what was going on at that time.
Replies to Comment # 10. I see your point, it just seems absurd to me, given what was going on at that time. It was just that suspension was the most glaring legal grounds after the failure of Lincoln and his henchmen to negotiate with the South. There was no chance to 'impeach' Lincoln prior to the outbreak of the war unless the southern states had actually sent their representatives to the 1861 Congress. The Confederacy had every right to exist and once the die was cast the USA ceased to exist for all time. The Federal Compact had been torn asunder and there was no chance to convince Salmon Chase and the rest of the financial elite of NY to stop their agression. The Emancipation Proclamation was a sham. Didn't free slaves outside of the Confederacy. There was a simpler path to restoration and that would have been for Lincoln to start serious talks and get his troops out of the souther harbors, etc. This country would have been better off if the Confederates had won at Bull Run 1 and deposed the Emperor and hanged Chase & Stanton. And, I am not a Yellow Dog.
