Opinions/Editorials Title: Mark Ames: Why the American Right Never Liked V.S. Naipaul I’ve often wondered why the American Right has been so quiet about V.S. Naipaul. He’s easily the most talented reactionary writer in the English language–maybe the only living talent left in the right-wing zombiesphere. The American Right devotes an insane amount of resources into manufacturing hagiographies on anyone whom they believe makes them look good–even the Soviets couldn’t compete with today’s American Right when it comes to glorifying their pantheon of degenerate cretins like Ayn Rand, Phyllis Schlafly, Friedrich von Hayek… I found a few passages that I think explain why they never liked Naipaul much. Basically, it comes down to this: The American Right only needs “team players”–shameless, cynical hacks who can be counted on to churn out whatever rank propaganda ordered up by the Heritage Foundation. For that, you need a Rotary Club nihilist like Dinesh D’Souza, someone totally devoid of a literary ego, intellectual curiosity or a gag reflex. I was just reading Patrick French’s brilliant biography of Naipaul, The World Is What It Is, and came across this interesting scene from Naipaul’s visit to America in 1969. Naipaul had already started developing a reputation at that point as one of the rare examples of a dark-skinned reactionary Tory from a Third World colony, making him one of the most despised literary figures among the trendy-left. #54. To: war (#47) Actually for once, Wiki has a pretty good definition. "Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder described as a prolonged disturbance of personality function in a person (generally over the age of eighteen years, although it is also found in adolescents), characterized by depth and variability of moods.[n 1] The disorder typically involves unusual levels of instability in mood; black and white thinking, or splitting; the disorder often manifests itself in idealization and devaluation episodes, as well as chaotic and unstable interpersonal relationships, self-image, identity, and behavior; as well as a disturbance in the individual's sense of self. In extreme cases, this disturbance in the sense of self can lead to periods of dissociation.[1] BPD splitting includes a switch between idealizing and demonizing others. This, combined with mood disturbances, can undermine relationships with family, friends, and co-workers. BPD disturbances also may include self-harm.[2] Without treatment, symptoms may worsen, leading (in extreme cases) to suicide attempts.[n 2].........."
#55. To: war (#45) Yea...it left me...reeling... LOL! Firing blanks in frightening only until it is realized they are blanks. You didn't even blink ... you iron nerved one!
#56. To: Gatlin, We The People (#55) Speaking of "frightening" ... I saw how you LP Kloughns attempted to pick on WTP on LP. Another epic failure. Oh and EVEN MORE EPIC FAILURES.... your abuse of "Beyond the Sea" as though because he has remained quiet about your butt-boy, "yukon" that you surmise he is somehow "GUILTY" ... too much fun watching WTP wrap you boys around "yukon" exit holes.
#57. To: mininggold (#54) Excellent diagnosis, doc.
#58. To: buckeroo (#56) Speaking of "frightening" ... I saw how you LP Kloughns attempted to pick on WTP on LP. weeps and beyond the sea spanked the yukons like rented mules,
#59. To: calcon (#58) Honestly, I just haven't seen so many laffs on one thread.
#60. To: calcon (#58) weeps and beyond the sea spanked the yukons like rented mules, I saw that too, LOL. The Yukons are driving elPee into a crater.
#61. To: Fred Mertz (#57) Excellent diagnosis, doc Just a suggestion, he reminds me of a couple we had in the local nut house. The 'splitting' is especially evident.
#62. To: calcon (#58) Now, the LP Kloughns have turned on YOU over @LP. The hate that runs through their minds is incredible.
#63. To: buckeroo (#59) Honestly, I just haven't seen so many laffs on one thread. I thought about joining in but I'm so bored with the yuklowns they're not even worth the trouble to screw with them anymore. I did poke old tater with a stick a couple of times this am just to get him pissed off.
#64. To: buckeroo (#62) Now, the LP Kloughns have turned on YOU over @LP. The hate that runs through their minds is incredible. i couldn't resist poking tater with a stick this am. it'll probably keep the losers busy all morning.
#65. To: calcon (#63) Well, they have turned their attention to you with Gatlin's new thread timed just after your post to me here on LF. These folks are out for blood.
#66. To: Fred Mertz (#60) I saw that too, LOL. The Yukons are driving elPee into a crater. no kidding the site's in a free fall where every other post being about the yuklown conspiracy theory
#67. To: buckeroo (#62) From my observations they've got the following on their hit list: We The People, TooConservative, InfoWarrior (who they incorrectly believe is Bill D Berger), The Leadpenny and Judge Parker and maybe beyond the sea (aka Otis). I'm not sure how they treat Willie Green as he is a target to lots of others.
#68. To: calcon (#66) I hope they stay away from here. After Ibluafartsky departed this place was humming pretty well until Stone's Borderline Personality Disorder kicked in.
#69. To: calcon (#66) Tater just pinged Goldi on his elPee Biker Bar thread about you. That fat slob is such a pussy.
#70. To: Fred Mertz (#67) Goldi gives them free reign to purge the site. The place will become an echo chamber.
#71. To: Fred Mertz, buckeroo (#69) this should really get tater to go berserk
#17. To: Gatlin (#13) damn tater, you already calling for mommy to protect you you'd think someone of your advanced years would be man enough to defend himself and not hide behind a woman's skirt calcon posted on 2011-07-26 16:02:42 ET Reply Trace Edit
#72. To: buckeroo (#70) Goldi always struck me as one who feared or couldn't handle success. That site had lots of potential over the years but it never did break out - which I attribute to her uneven handed moderating.
#73. To: Fred Mertz, hondo68 (#67) Now they are turning on hondo. Incredible. What the HELL stirred them up today?
#74. To: Fred Mertz (#72) After Neil left, Goldi made it a Israeli FIRSTER website.
#75. To: calcon (#71) This Kloughn, Gatlin has a fucking problem.
#76. To: calcon, mininggold (#71) Let's see if mininggold's Biker Bar thread lasts. www.libertypost.org/cgi-b....cgi?ArtNum=310988&Disp=0 Darn it, I should be out mowing.
#77. To: buckeroo (#73) What the HELL stirred them up today? Give em a break, the Yukloughn Posse is mourning the loss of their congressional representative.
Obama's watch stopped on 24 May 2008, but he's been too busy smoking crack to notice. #78. To: Fred Mertz (#76) Darn it, I should be out mowing. I need to go out and pick figs. I hate picking them because I'm allergic to the sap, but I got an order from one of the restaurants in town.
#79. To: buckeroo (#75) hey tater, how's it going? did I upset you this am, or did you just forget to take your meds
#80. To: buckeroo (#75) that last post wasn't really to you bucky, senile old tater is coming over here looking for comments to go tattletale to goldi about.
#81. To: mininggold, fred mertz (#78) ming your thread got deleted already,
#82. To: calcon (#81) So did the tater one in the BB. I saw Goldi posting but I didn't realize she'd react this way. You should check your posting status on elPee. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she gave you a silent ban, like she did to me in the first days of this month.
#83. To: Fred Mertz (#67) From my observations they've got the following on their hit list: We The People, TooConservative, InfoWarrior (who they incorrectly believe is Bill D Berger), The Leadpenny and Judge Parker and maybe beyond the sea (aka Otis). I'm not sure how they treat Willie Green as he is a target to lots of others. Judge parker and TooConservative ought to be over here, they are intelligent posters. :-) Tagline for sale - inquire within #84. To: Fred Mertz, gatlin, deleted (#82) Yep, everything's all cleaned up. Tater must hold the lead in threads deleted at eLPee.
Obama's watch stopped on 24 May 2008, but he's been too busy smoking crack to notice. #85. To: Fred Mertz (#82) your posting status on elPee no, i'm still good. I've never given goldi any crap or talk crap about her. The yukons have been lobbying hard but it hasn't worked so far.
#86. To: hondo68 (#84) Goldi is on the war path today. Well, there is good news! She can't blame us. She can only blame the LP Kloughns.
#87. To: calcon (#85) Good for you.
#88. To: buckeroo (#86) She can only blame the LP Kloughns. We could call them the untouchables. But I prefer The Yukons.
#89. To: buckeroo (#86) She can't blame us. She can only blame the LP Kloughns. hopefully, she'll realize who the real disruptors are.
#90. To: Fred Mertz (#87) Good for you. don't really care, the yuklowns have destroyed the site and there's no reason to post there while the yuklowns have free reign to attack everyone.
#91. To: calcon (#89) hopefully, she'll realize who the real disruptors are. huh? After putting up with six-seven years of "yukon" .... never happen.
#92. To: A K A Stone (#37) war has used Badeyes name a lot of times. This was Badeyes first. Frankly I don't blame him to much. It must be frustrating. I'm just trying to be a little consistent. Dozens upon dozens of times here, Stone. hundreds of times elsewhere. I think it may have been my 2nd or 3rd time total...if you count (my comment above since correctly deleted) as 'legal name' (it isn't). Bottom line is that clown can dish it out, but he can't take it. Primarily because if you know the 'real man' you realize why he does what he does on the internet. Compensate for the real life he leads, and is, to be blunt, embarrassed about. Anyway, I did violate your policy, and it won't happen again. Appreciate your view on this. Sorry I added to the aggravation. Proxy IP's are amusing.....lmao #93. To: A K A Stone (#40) Yeah right. Poor wittle frustrated Badeye has posted it many times. No he hasn't. Not here anyways. Not anywhere 'many times'. war, Brian S, a few others have done so 'many times'. The irony of course is my life is exactly as I've stated online when I was relative 'anonymous'. None of them can say that, especially the dwarf. Proxy IP's are amusing.....lmao . . . Comments (94 - 154) not displayed. Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest |
