Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) launched her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in Waterloo, Iowa today, declaring she wants her candidacy "to stand for a moment when we the people stand once again for independence from a government that has spent too much and has taken too much from our liberty."

"My name is Michelle Bachmann, I stand here among my family and many friends to announce formally my candidacy for president of the United States," she said.

After 4 years in the House of Representatives as an advocate for spending cuts and limited government, Bachmann, dubbed the "Queen of the Tea Party," by The Weekly Standard, said she would help the nation "recapture our founders' vision of a constitutionally conservative government."

In a speech targeted at Iowa caucus-goers, Bachmann spoke about her upbringing in The Hawkeye State. "Everything I need to know, I learned in Iowa," she said. "We depended on our neighbors and ourselves and not our government for help," she said. "We trusted in God and our neighbors and not in government.

Bachmann's campaign strategy hinges on a victory in the first-in-the-nation caucuses. A Des Moines Register poll released Saturday showed Bachmann tied with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at the top of the field, drawing the support of 22 percent of likely caucus-goers.

In her announcement speech, Bachmann declared President Barack Obama's health care law unconstitutional, and drew the loudest applause when she declared, "we can't afford four more years of Barack Obama." Subscribe to *Elections 2012*

I would like to see Bachman debate Obama. If they do though. Obama should be put in a cage. Have you seen his wife she is dogshit ugly. He just might try to rape Bachman.

So if they debate Obama should be put in a cage. It is only fair. After all he is a known baby murderer.

Yes, the First Wookie is exceedingly ugly.

But I don't see how that has anything to do with Bachmann doing well in the debates, and on various news shows.

Hearing Chris Wallace is catching a lot of heat over his 'are you a flake' quesstion today. I couldn't believe he went 'David Greggory' on her.

I seen that on TV as it happened and couldn't believe she didn't smack him with her chair.... From what I've heard he has apologized to her today, but haven't heard if she has accepted it or not...

Chris Wallace is an establishment hack. I remember when he didn't have Ron Paul on the fox news debate before the New Hampshire primary. Even though he had the faggoty looking cross dresser Rudy Guilianni on the show. That was an important debate. If Ron Paul, who finished third I think, was allowed in the debate he might have won or came in second.

He did apologize both via a webcam clip on fox news website, and in a personal phone call to Bachmann.

She did accept the apology. Hell, being a female conservative, she's heard far worse as we all know. If it had been Hillary Clinton, the uber leftwingers would be picketing Fox demanding he be fired (laughing).

Actually, I think it helped Ron Paul that he wasn't included. Look at the self inflicted damage he did to himself two or three weeks back in the debate.

The only thing Ron Paul has going for him is a small, but extremely dedicated cult following.

The problem is he doesn't know when to shut the hell up. Same problem Gingrich has.

Nuff said.
