#3. To: A K A Stone (#1) (Edited) They've actually been back for a while with this singer...Trillo...Trunino something like that...thyey get a lot of play on Sirius/XM's Metal channel... I'm not the fan of them as I was 25 years ago...think they were called Band X then...
#4. To: war (#3) I just discovered them again yesterday watching youtube videos. I saw them probably 3 times opening for bands in the 80's. This new singer kicks ass though.
#5. To: A K A Stone (#4) ONe of the things that has kept me listening to AC/DC is that they are not over produced...Band X had an insane rawness to them...this band is good, don't get me wrong...I just like Metal to have that raw edge...
#9. To: war (#5) ONe of the things that has kept me listening to AC/DC is that they are not over produced.. That was the ONLY complaint I ever had about anything Ray Charles ever did. The man was a musical gift to the world, but he did have a tendency to go into the studio and overproduce his songs. As smart as he was about music, you would think he would have understood that the rawness of his tunes is what gave them power. Still, even a half-strength Ray Charles was miles ahead of practically everybody else.
#12. To: sneakypete (#9) (Edited) Jerry Wexler...was trying to bring a black into the mainstream....more by choice than design... BUt when you consider the beauty in a song like "It's a Wonderful World" and the utter simplicity in which it is presented, your point is spot on...
#13. To: war (#12) Jerry Wexler...was trying to bring a black into the mainstream....more by choice than design... You kidding? There were already hundreds of black entertainers in the mainstream, and Ray Charles wasn't exactly unknown.
#14. To: sneakypete (#13) There were already hundreds of black entertainers in the mainstream, and Ray Charles wasn't exactly unknown. Wha...huh? You got it ass backward...Charles led the way...
Replies to Comment # 14. Wha...huh? Ever heard of Cab Calloway? Etta James? Louis Armstrong? Fats Domino?
