Humor Title: Interview with Candidate Obama Interview with Candidate Obama in Mississippi, in early 2008. Reporter: "Who are you parents" Obama: "My mother was black and my father was white." Reporter:"I thought it was the other way around." Obama: "Now, you see, once again you're missing the point and guilty of obfuscating. Reporter: "Actually I meant what are their names" Obama: Uhhh... "That really isn't important" and "Oh, uh, and my uncle served in the Civil War." Reporter: "Which uncle was that?" Obama: "Racist! You're assuming it was the white uncle." Reporter: "No, I thought you maybe you knew his name." Obama: "Uh, John. Black Uncle John. He helped liberate Cleveland with the 169th Regiment." Reporter: "How can that be? None of your father's relatives were American citizens actually living here then. Obama: "You've been hoodwinked and bamboozled. It's time for a change at the highest level." Reporter: "Which Army? I don't recall that Regiment number." Obama: "The details aren't important. He was there." Reporter: "Which side did your uncle serve on? No one ever liberated Cleveland (though not a bad idea). Obama: "You're an example of a negative person who clings to stereotypes of black people." Reporter: "But aren't you half-white?" Obama: "No. Once you have black in you, you're ALL black. RACIST! Cracker! Get that gun outta my face. Put down that bible. I'm leaving this state and not coming back. There are only 56 left to go." Reporter: "You mean the 57 Islamic states?" Obama: Whatchu talkin' 'bout, man? I never knew no muslims." #5. To: socalv8 (#4) President Obama told Congress last night. “In the midst of civil war, we laid railroad tracks from one coast to another that spurred commerce and industry.” From http://www.bushong.net/dawn/about/college/ids100/history.shtml "By April of 1861 Theodore Judah finally brought together the Central Pacific Railroad Co., with president Leland Stanford, vice-president Collis P. Huntington, and treasurer Mark Hopkins. These three men: Stanford, Hopkins, and Huntington, along with Charles Crocker, who handled labor issues, became known as the "Big Four" of the Central Pacific Railroad. In 1862, Judah was appointed secretary of the House and Senate committees on the Pacific Railway Act, and so he finally got to see the beginning of the realization of his dream of a transcontinental railroad...before his death in 1863.
When the ground breaking to signify the beginning of work on the Central Pacific took place in Sacramento on January 8th, 1863, the route they were to take was the one laid out by Theodore Judah many years before, when he had surveyed the Sierras, found a passable route, and then spent years lobbying Congress to convince them his plan would work. The Union Pacific The other half of the plan, the Union Pacific Railroad Co., was founded in Chicago on September 2nd, 1862. By December 2nd, 1863, the Union Pacific broke ground on the Missouri River bluffs. With both companies now at work, the Railroad began to creep towards a meeting. "
