Schieffer interviews Paul Ryan, tries to back him into a corner and fails.... I can't embed the video (it's locked) so you will have to go to YouTube to view it.
The debt ceiling has to be raised. The US needs to pay its obigations. PERIOD.
What good is paying for it with monopoly money dripping with wet ink?
Why doesn't the goobermint just scale back it's spending by a good 20%, beginning with the Defense budget, paring down redundant/innecessary Federal agencies, and reducing goob worker "entitlements" that are absurd?

So people not even born yet should pay back this crap plus interest for all their lives if you get a chance to be born without being wacked by some "pro choice" liberal?
No. Thomas Jefferson was right. The earth belongs to the living.
Jefferson was right; Franklin was right about, "It's a Republic - if you can keep it," and Larry Sinclair was right about 0bama...
The biggest problem we face is the Commie, Founders-Hating punk in the Oval Office whose only goal is to terrorize, rape and sodomize the USA by the time he leaves office. The second biggest problem are the idiots, ignoramuses, and traitors who support him. The third biggest problem are the Cowards in High Places who won't expose 0bama and help save the country.
That said, the Kenyan and Bubba and Bush have ALL made a mockery of the Constitution and worked to sabotage this nation.

It's already been proposed, and the Left lies it's ass off as to it's intent and effectiveness..... It's called a consumption tax, you get taxed on what you buy not what you earn.. The more you buy the more you pay, very simple concept.... Just not good for the politicians, nothing to lie about to their constituents.. A good part about it is those on Welfare would be paying some of what they get in freebies back to the government in the way of taxes, in essence paying for themselves somewhat......

Frankly, there ought to be 'Workfare' problems that address public works as in the 1930s - the hell with peoples' "esteem" and the socialist-Dems' characterization of it as "degrading" and "slave-like."
OH - sounds communist to me.

That's an authority better cited. I'd like to see the article though.
I'm looking for that article from the IRS on their site but am not having much luck, that latest I can find is for 2004???????.... It may have been a magazine article so good luck finding that.. I did find figures from a few different articles stating:
Amount of millionaires in 2000 was right at 4 million and reached a peak of 9.2 million in 2007.. As of 2010 it dropped to 7.8 million...

A VAT Tax?
Not a bad idea...IF only it wouldn't wind up as an additional tax on top of a state sales tax.
It would actually be better for the goob and politicians because it'd be even more money and wealth to confiscate and "spread around."

Hmmm... I wonder if those numbers include a certain fraudulent anti-Capitalist Commie Kenyan whose basis of wealth and earnings came as a result of anti-Whitey, anti-America books written by an American terrorist, and quid-pro-quo corruption and graft while as an Illinois politician?
Truth IS greater than fiction!

No, a consumption tax... You do away with the current tax system and go to a consumption tax.... A VAT tax would only be on top of what we presently have and would be in essence a tax increase.....

A VAT is not a tax on sales. It's a tax on production. Some countries do refund the VAT when products are exported, which makes it more like a sales tax. However a real sales tax would tax imports in the same way that domestically produced products are taxed -- when they are purchased. The VAT doesn't do this.

I know that, but a lot of people seem to be hung up on tax increases so figured I would concentrate on that first...... That will be next......

I've been in Chicago for the last three weeks on a big project. I'm flying back to Seattle in the morning. Right now I'm winding down at a bar, drinking a Pale Ale -- my first beer in 3 weeks. So I figured I might as well give the leftist loons a hard time as well. ;););)

Crazy weather -- two Sunday's ago it was 85. On Monday when I woke up there was a little snow on the ground.
Two weird things:
A.) The waitresses call you "honey"
B.) There are a lot of men with gold chains around their necks. Not gay guys - - but big Italian looking dudes who apparently think it's still the 1970s.

That drives me crazy, I want to say I'm not your honey so bad, but just bite my tongue instead.....

While Bush's governance was admittedly quite insane if you ask me, the degree of insane of both 0bama and his supporters who ignore the red elephant on the poop-deck is off-the-charts.
Full agreement. I was ticked off with GOP House and Bush administration spending in the summer of 2006 to the point I simply didn't vote for any Republican except for Governor here in Ohio (Blackwell). At the time, I think the annual deficit was somewhere around 550 - 660 billion.
Today...Owe-bama, with help from Pelosi Galore and dingy Harry Reid tripled that annual defict.
And the Left wonders why I'm really pissed off NOW?

Boofer never believed that we had more money than we spent. Boofer makes things up...on any given day he either has vast property upon which he combat pistols or his house sits on a cliff.
What was stupid was not paying down the debt when we had more money when we were spending.
I have no argument with this at all. Its why I voted against the GOP in 2006, except for Ohio's Governor. I thought Hassert, DeLay and Bush lost their freakin minds then.
Today, the annual Federal Deficit I was so pissed off about in 2006 is TRIPLE what it was that year.
