Education Title: 'Easter eggs' reportedly renamed 'spring spheres' at Seattle public school 'Easter eggs' reportedly renamed 'spring spheres' at Seattle public school Thomas Lifson The educrats strike again, and make themselves look ridiculous again, according to a 16 year old student identified only as Jessica, who volunteered to do a project at a local elementary school, supplying plastic eggs filled with jellybeans. From MyNorthwest.com: "I went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay," Jessica explained. "She said that I could do it as long as I called this treat 'spring spheres.' I couldn't call them Easter eggs." Rather than question the decision, Jessica opted to "roll with it." But the third graders had other ideas. "When I took them out of the bag, the teacher said, 'Oh look, spring spheres' and all the kids were like 'Wow, Easter eggs.' So they knew," Jessica said. If this story is true, as recounted by Jessica, it takes political correctness to a new height of absurdity Poster Comment: Typical self appointed "Academia" BS....... #2. To: Longdriver (#1) Adminstrators usually have a separate Union... America...My Kind Of Place... #3. To: CZ82 (#0) (Edited) I live in the Seattle area. "Spring Spheres" don't even begin to describe the lunacy that passes for government in the City of Seattle. I worked in the city between 2000 and 2007 in the Belltown area. In the open field next to our building, you could see crack whores and hobos shooting dope, defecating in the street, and having sex in plain view of the conference room where we held meetings with customers. The police received multiple calls a day about the situation for years. What did the Police do??? They stood on the corner everyday handing out jaywalking tickets to the people coming out of my building. Nothing was ever done about crack whores and hobos. Why? Because we could pay and the hobos couldn't. It's a true story. "Everything that can be invented has been invented."-- Charles Duell, Commissioner of US Patent Office, 1899 #4. I pity you having to work in the city, it's not much fun... I stay away from there as much as possible during the day and refuse to go in at night if "I'm not packing"...... I suppose they could throw the hobo in jail but then he'd have to be fed as well as housed - who wants to pay for that? "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose." That's a big part of the problem. How much are you willing to pay either in dollars or personal effort to "fix" the situation? (My guess is that you're just a whiner.) To: Longdriver (#1) The shape of an egg is approximately that of half each a prolate (long) and roughly spherical (potentially even slightly oblate/short) ellipsoid joined at the equator, sharing a principal axis of rotational symmetry, as illustrated above. Although the term egg-shaped usually implies a lack of reflection symmetry across the equatorial plane, it may also refer to true prolate ellipsoids. It can also be used to describe the 2-dimensional figure that, revolved around its major axis, produces the 3-dimensional surface. Refer to the following equation for an approximation of a 3D egg where a is any positive constant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oval ![]() Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest |
