As a veteran of the abortion wars, it's no big surprise that Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee is making reproductive rights the centerpiece of his (likely) 2012 presidential campaign.

"For me this is an issue that - as I've said before - it transcends all of the political issues," Huckabee told an anti-abortion crowd at a fundraiser the Center for Bioethical Reform. "I've often said I would gladly lose an election before I would ever yield on the issue of the sanctity of human life."

CNN notes that most other GOP contenders have thus far been tight-lipped about social issues. But they don't have their fingers on the pulse of their base. For instance, House Republicans who have spent a huge chunk of their first month in power dedicated to rolling back abortion rights. If Huckabee's competitors think they can rest on their laurels, they're probably mistaken. Subscribe to *Tea Party On Parade*

"I've often said I would gladly lose an election before I would ever yield on the issue of the sanctity of human life."

Seriously?

Good luck living down your past Mike:

Little Rock, Ark -- As governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee aggressively pushed for the early release of a convicted rapist despite being warned by numerous women that the convict had sexually assaulted them or their family members, and would likely strike again. The convict went on to rape and murder at least one other woman.

Confidential Arkansas state government records, including letters from these women, revealed publicly for the first time, directly contradict the version of events now being put forward by Huckabee.

Since January 3, 2011, Republicans have controlled the power of the purse.

Like most other Republicans, Huckabee is a fraud. Where was he on the abortion issue when the Republicrats had complete control of the government? If he cares so much then why didn't a stand up and demand that his party support of the Sanctity of Life Bill? For that matter, where why didn't he stand up in support of it himself? It had the complete backing of every pro-life group in the nation. Tens of thousands of letters and phone calls were made to Congress concerning the Sanctity of Life legislation yet it was completely ignored. Where was he then?

The Republicrats use the abortion issue to sucker morons into voting for them just like the Democans use the Social Security and Medicare issue to scare geezers into voting for them.

How long will people keep falling for this?

I'm anti abortion and anti Huckabee.

I'd prefer Rand Paul or Trump.

Trump better not be pro aboort.

"I hate the concept of abortion, but I am strongly pro-choice," Trump said, adding that he would not favor a ban on so-called partial-birth abortion. ...

Dammit Trump. Why do you have to be so stupid.

I changed my mind. Rand.
