A 1998 study that linked childhood autism to a vaccine was branded an "elaborate fraud" by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Thursday, but its lead author said he was the victim of a smear campaign by drug manufacturers.

In an interview late Wednesday with CNN, Andrew Wakefield denied inventing data and blasted a reporter who apparently uncovered the falsifications as a "hit man" doing the bidding of a powerful pharmaceutical industry.

"It's a ruthless pragmatic attempt to crush any investigation into valid vaccine safety concerns," Wakefield said.

He insisted the "truth" was in his book about the scandal: "The book is not a lie, the study is not a lie...I did not make up the diagnoses of autism."

Blamed for a disastrous boycott of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine in Britain, the study was retracted by The Lancet last year and Wakefield was disgraced on the grounds of conflict of financial interest and unethical treatment of some children involved in the research.

Wakefield, then a consultant in experimental gastro-enterology at London's Royal Free Hospital, and his team suggested they had found a "new syndrome" of autism and bowel disease among 12 children.

They linked it to the MMR vaccine, which they said had been administered to eight of the youngsters shortly before the symptoms emerged.

But other scientists swiftly cautioned the study was only among a tiny group, without a comparative "control" sample, and the dating of when symptoms surfaced was based on parental recall, which is notoriously unreliable.

When asked why 10 of his co-authors retracted the interpretations of the study, Wakefield said: " I'm afraid the pressure has been put on them to do so."

"People get very, very frightened. You're dealing with some very powerful interests here."

The BMJ charged that hundreds of thousands of children in Britain are now unshielded against these three diseases. In 2008, measles was declared endemic, or present in the wider population much like chicken pox, in England and Wales.

None of the 12 cases, as reported in the study, tallied fully with the children's official medical records, the journal said.

Some diagnoses had been misrepresented and dates faked in order to draw a convenient link with the MMR jab, it said.

Of nine children described by Wakefield as having "regressive autism," only one clearly had this condition and three were not even diagnosed with autism at all, it said.

The findings had been skewed in advance, as the patients had been recruited via campaigners opposed to the MMR vaccine, the journal added.

And, said the BMJ, Wakefield had been confidentially paid hundreds of thousands of pounds (dollars, euros) through a law firm under plans to launch "class action" litigation against the vaccine.

Wakefield, who still retains a vocal band of supporters, reportedly left Britain to work in the United States.

Wakefield has previously accused Britain's General Medical Council (GMC) of seeking to "discredit and silence" him and shield the British government from responsibility in what he calls a "scandal."

Autism is the term for an array of conditions ranging from poor social interaction to repetitive behaviours and entrenched silence.

The condition is rare, predominantly affecting boys, although its causes are fiercely debated.

As you can see all three of these components are found in the vaccine and in large amounts.

I am going to start with Squalene. During the Gulf War military personnel was administered a vaccine that contained Squalene. Most of these men got Gulf War Syndrome.

Symptoms attributed to this syndrome have been wide-ranging, including chronic fatigue, loss of muscle control, headaches, dizziness and loss of balance, memory problems, muscle and joint pain, indigestion, skin problems, shortness of breath, and even insulin resistance. In August 2002 in a article entitled 'Antibodies to Squalene in Recipient of Anthrax Vaccine' claimed that the Squalene creates antibodies that causes a persons body to 'attack' itself. When doing test it showed that all of the Gulf War Syndrome patients had traces of Squalene antibodies present. Let me explain, normal antibodies in a persons body searches for viruses such as a cold and attack it, now what these squalene antibodies does it sees the persons cells as 'the enemy' and attacks the persons own cells. Turning the body against itself almost like a internal war.

Squalene is that it can be applied to the skin, inhaled and even taken orally and would still be safe even beneficail some would say but it should not be injected under any circumstances. It reacts very differently when injected.

What is the purpose of Squalene in the vaccine? According to the World Health Organizations Global advisory committee on vaccine safety page on Squalene:

Squalene is a component of some adjuvants that are added to vaccines to enhance the immune response.
* MF59, an adjuvant produced by Novartis and added to the FLUAD flu vaccine, is such an example.
* Squalene by itself is not an adjuvant, but emulsions of squalene with surfactants do enhance the immune response.

Thimerosal is used as a preservative in vaccines even though the Department of defense has classified mercury as a hazardous material that could lead to death is swallowed, inhaled of absorbed through the skin. When a persons body comes in contact with mercury studies has shown that it naturally accumulate in the brain.

What it does it stops the growth of brain tissue and reverses some of the growth.

According to the World Health Organizations safety of vaccine questions and answers page on Thimerosal is not dangerous in small amounts and countries that have banned the substance is being 'overly' cautious. Those countries are Russia, Denmark, Austia, Japan, Great Britain and Scandinavia.

The makers of Thimerosal, Eli Lilly, has insisted there is no link from Thimerosal to autism in children but if you take in account the amount of mercury in a vaccine multiplied by the amount of vaccines given to a child, the end amount of mercury is alarming. The reason they use Thimerosal is because it stays so long in the system, meaning it ingrains into the child's brain and accumulates with each vaccine taken.

According to Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, Volume 95, Number 6, December 2005 , pp. 593-599(7), "it is of current relevance as a 'hidden' inductor of anaphylactoid reactions", and "Polysorbate 80 was identified as the causative agent for the anaphylactoid reaction of nonimmunologic origin in the patient. Conclusions: Polysorbate 80 is a ubiquitously used solubilizing agent that can cause severe nonimmunologic anaphylactoid reactions."

There is not much information on Polysorbate except that it has been deemed toxic.

Anderson Cooper interviewed the study's author as well as the British journalist who uncovered the fraud. The author of the study came across as a complete con-man, denying that he ever told parents not to vaccinate his kids despite all the links between him and those who argue against vaccinations.

It's sad that children of stupid parents who buy into these whacky conspiracy theories have died as a result of this.

Unfortunately there are many parents who refuse to vaccinate their kids at all, thinking it's all some sort of Big Pharma conspiracy.
