Why would you or anybody else buy a new gun you knew so little about you don't even know how to check to see if it is loaded or to load it? I suspect I have been in more gun shops than you,and I know I have worked in more gun shops than you,and I NEVER had the guy behind the counter offer to show me how the gun operated,or saw them do that with anybody else that didn't ask for help. This is because of the reason above,almost everybody buying guns already knows how the gun they are buying operates,or they wouldn't be buying it. This is especially true with guns because there are only a few basic types of actions. I repeat,ANYBODY that has to be shown how to unlock the slide on a pump shotgun is NOT an experienced hunter or shooter. I think that the Colt Lightning (the rifle with that name not the double action revolver) was the first popular pump or slide action long gun. That was made in the 1870s.
