IMO you can see a clear transition from Country Music to Western Swing, when Hank Williams comes on. There really is a difference between Country and Western.

Anybody that never heard of MayBelle Carter and the Carter Family doesn't know much about country or bluegrass music. The Carter Family were mega-stars long before Hank Williams ever came on the scene.
