Guess it's a good thing for Sink boy that he had a GOP Congress.
Nope, he need a Democratic Congress to actually put the nation on a path toward a balanced budget in 1993. And things were going really well until the GOP blew up the budget in 2001-2004.
There were 200 million dollar deficits without end when Clinton had a Democratic Congress. When the GOP was pushing for a balanced budget in 1995, Clinton said it was irresponsible and couldn't be done.
And a Republican controlled Congress turned those surpluses into massive deficits with over $3 trillion in un-paid for spending or tax cuts.
Deficits decreased for 4 straight years after the 2003 tax cuts.
There is no such thing as a tax surplus. It means the people are being over taxed. Typical Democrat. Love taking money away from those who earn it.

So in your view, we should never pay down the debt? Typical Republican, the only problem with debt is that there isn't more of it.
Look at the below, and note when George W. Bush became President. Not a single Republican voted for Clinton's 1993 budget which started us on the path toward a balanced budget.
Why would they? It sucked and did not put us on the path towards a balanced budget. It projected 200 million dollar deficits for perpetuity.
That would be Clinton's dot com bust when he left Office when that started, not tax cuts.
Two hundred million dollars - sounds like chump change after Bush.
Three straight years after 2004 when the deficit increased - and we're still talking deficit. Nothing to brag about when Bush was handed a budget surplus.
Yep, that was Rush's position too. Typical Democrat. Love taking money away from those who earn it. "Taking money away from those who earn it" - reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw after the Bush tax cuts, "Tax Work, Not Wealth".
Where do you people think government gets it's wealth? Just prints it and taxes people for no particular reason? Intelligent as ever.
