But users with broadband access to the net usually have a single relatively constant IP address. Cable companies seem to like to change it only every few months, DSL seems to be a permanent IP.
If Mudbot uses dial-up then it is possible as Neil stated above.

Ok here is what I have learned. There is a third screen name with the exact same IP as slim and bailys. It just so happens that this screen name is for someone I know and actually helped them set it up. Now that is very strange. Does anyone know any reason that this could be the case?
Upon further examination it seems that Mud was telling the truth. Tulls
secondary data matches the other posters so I doubt him.. I've learned that
certain IP's have common proxies that they use to send out all their data. That
now being known. I would like to say I am sorry to Mud. It was an honest mistake.

If you go by more than one screen name. I think it is fair to tell everyone that you are the same screen name. Jethro Tull's IP is the same as One_crazy_Jew. It is not fair to have more than one screen name. This isn't the only case of this. I have been aware of this for a while. So if you have more than one screen name. Expect it to be known. It is only fair.
What makes you believe that AKA Stone is telling the truth? And more than that, the IP is not a clear identifier of someone. Suppose JT has one of those temporary leases of an IP because of his ISP? And someone else came on to impersonate him.
Anyway there are plausible arguments to not use the same IP. I don't. I can change mine at anytime.
