Despite signs pointing to Republican gains in Tuesdays midterm elections, White House aides said President Obama wont change his leadership style because the contests in red states dont represent a true national election. With the GOP in striking distance of regaining control of the Senate, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday that the vast majority of [Senate races] are actually taking place in states that the president did not win in the last presidential election. And he said the Republican- friendly nature of this years electoral map would be a reason for the White House to limit any lessons learned from the outcome. ...

if the Republicans win their Senate majority. After a spell of cooperating with his party during the campaign season, the Post reports, he will elbow his way into de facto leadership. In an interview at the Hotel Captain Cook here between campaign stops for Sullivan, Cruz made it clear he would push hard for a Republican-led Senate to be as conservative and confrontational as the Republican-led House. Piggybacking on what House leaders have done, Cruz said the first order of business should be a series of hearings on President Obama, looking at the abuse of power, the executive abuse, the regulatory ...

When Democrats pushed through mail-in voting for Colorado, Republicans objected over the potential for vote fraud. So far, though, the GOP has become its biggest beneficiary. Late yesterday, a report from the Secretary of State showed Republicans with a 104,000-ballot lead, giving them a nine- point edge in early voting: Republicans are blowing out Democrats in Colorado early voting, the secretary of State there says. The AP said that 41 percent of the 1.1 million early ballots were from Republicans, with roughly a third coming from Democrats and a quarter from independent voters. Colorados voters are basically evenly split among the three groups. The AP further noted that the GOP ...

They voiced their opinion with guerrilla art on Detroit streets early today near Wayne State University, where Obama is expected to speak tonight. Highlighting the Obama Zombie theme, the art popped up in the city of Lansing earlier this week, but has now spread to the Eastern side of the state, appearing on electrical boxes, busy bus stops, and the ubiquitous ruins of the city. No group has taken credit for the prank, but an anonymous source said, It was a very small band of conservatives outside of the GOP who decided to take action. Harry Reids caucus is running from him on the campaign trail, but that doesnt mean a revolt is in the works yet. The majority leader has twisted the Senate into a pretzel all year to protect his vulnerable members, but the Nevada Democrat is now facing skepticism on the campaign trail from some of those same Democrats, as well as from some would-be newcomers. And theres at least one scenario that could force his hand. Still, theres that old saying: You cant beat somebody with nobody, and so far, none of the senators who might have the chops to take on Reid have made any noises about doing so. That includes No. 3 Senate Democrat Charles E. Schumer of ...
