Wearing the Muslim veil in America: What it's like
Post Date: 2009-12-14 12:43:55 by mel
I knew I was in trouble the moment I sat down. I57;d just taken a seat next to an elderly Asian woman on the D-line train, on my way to a college class last year. She immediately stiffened. I began reading a book. She started twitching and looking around the train. We passed the first stop. She took out her pocket Bible, reading rapidly aloud as she rocked back and forth, clearly agitated. I felt awful, but I didn57;t know how to calm her. Before we reached the next stop, she gathered her bags, hurried down the aisle, and quickly took a seat next to someone else. I57;d just scared a sweet, elderly woman with my petite, head-scarf-wrapped frame, and I felt like a monster. I was upset that ...
Afterwards you will understand

Afterwards you will understand (J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings") "He got up from the table, took off His robe, wrapped a towel around His waist, and poured water into a basin. Then He began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel He had around Him." John 13:4-5 "What I am doing, you do not understand now--but afterwards you will understand." John 13:7 At this time Peter did not know why the Messiah he really needed--was a Messiah with basin and towel. He was thinking of a Messiah with throne and crown and scepter and earthly pomp! He did not understand it--until after the blood of Calvary had been ...
Islamist militants escape in Philippines jailbreak
Post Date: 2009-12-14 00:04:49 by WhiteSands
Scores of suspected Islamist militants stormed a jail and freed at least 31 prisoners in the volatile southern Philippines today. Seventy heavily armed men cut through padlocks with boltcutters after destroying a concrete wall at the provincial jail in Isabela city. One attacker and a jail guard died in the raid. The escaped prisoners included five militants from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, a large rebel group engaged in peace talks with the government, and 12 from the smaller, more violent Abu Sayyaf group, which has been linked to al-Qaida, a military official said. "All these are high-risk prisoners," said Al Rasheed Sakalahul, vice-governor of Basilan island. He ...
‘Honor killings’ exposed, Young Muslim women in West are increasingly vulnerable
Post Date: 2009-12-14 00:00:56 by WhiteSands
By Nadi a Shahram SPECIAL TO THE NEWS December 13, 2009, 7:05 AM / Since the brutal slaying of 37-year-old Aasiya Hassan and the murder charges filed against her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, in February, there has been at least one murder labeled as an honor killing. In Arizona, an Iraqi immigrant was accused of running over his daughter with his car. These two cases have triggered a lot of writing and discussion about honor killings and domestic violence. Here in Erie County, a number of seminars have been offered in various communities in the hope of raising awareness of the widespread violence against women. Many of these community discussions have focused on the issue of ...
It is only a heathen lodging-place!
Post Date: 2009-12-13 12:34:44 by Donald
It is only a heathen lodging-place! (J. R. Miller, "Our New Edens") Parents are the custodians of their children's lives. If they would meet their responsibility and be able to look God and their children in the face at the judgment, they must make their homes as nearly 'gardens of Eden' as possible. The way to save your children from the temptations of the streets--is to make your home so bright, so sweet, so beautiful, so happy, so full of love, joy and prayer--that the streets will have no attractiveness for them--no power to win them away. "Do not be overcome by evil--but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21 The place of the home-life among the ...
*BRUTAL TRUTH DEBATE*: Christian vs. Muslim; Christ vs. Muhammad/Bible vs. Koran (Fascinating Listen) [Full Thread]
Post Date: 2009-12-13 03:17:12 by Liberator
This is a debate between Dave Hunt and Shabir Ally in Toronto Canada in 2008. Christianity vs. Islam. Hunt's credentials and scholarship are impeccable as is his courage. As the author of over 4,000,000 books (of which three I own), you will see and hear him NOT mince any words about the deeply flawed Muhammad, and how deeply flawed the Koran is. No candy-coated PC-Speak here. He compares and contrasts the Koran vs. Bible convincingly, with conviction and armed with facts. Chances are none of us will ever see another non-compromising debate of this kind ever. This is Part 3 which blends seamlessly into Part 4, into Part 5 and so on. Hunt's politely yet firmly continues to delve ...
The supreme thing in Christian life!
Post Date: 2009-12-12 22:11:28 by Donald
The supreme thing in Christian life! (J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings") "To obey is better than sacrifice." 1 Samuel 15:22 Many people set a great deal more stress on religious rituals, than upon practical obedience. They will be faithful in attendance upon church services, devout and reverent in worship--and yet in their daily life, they will disregard the plain commandments of God! They fill the week with selfishness, pride, bitterness, and evil-speaking, and then go to church on Sunday, with great show of devotion, to engage in the worship of God! But what God desires before our worship can be acceptable, is that we obey what He ...
How do you handle "Happy Holidays' when you prefer "Merry Christmas?"
Post Date: 2009-12-12 18:54:20 by Ferret Mike
I work every year doing telephone order entry and answer calls from all over the nation. We are supposed to say, "Happy Holidays," but many make a point to subvert this by pointedly answering or wishing "Merry Christmas." And they do it in a way that makes it plain they don't much like the PCness of Happy Holidays. How do you deal with a clerk, salesman or someone taking orders who use the PC when you want it like you feel it or believe it? Just curious. I have to go get back on the phones, but I would find it interesting to check out the group think here on this. Happy Holidays folks. ;-)
We ought not to spend our life in picking up rubbish!

We ought not to spend our life in picking up rubbish! http://www.gracegems.org/ We ought not to spend our life in picking up rubbish! (J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings") "Do not work for food that perishes--but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you!" John 6:27 We need to be continually reminded of the unsatisfying nature of the things of this world--and exhorted to seek eternal realities. We live in a material age, when the quest of people is for money, for power, for things of the earth. John Bunyan gives a picture of 'a man with a muck-rake', working hard, scraping up the rubbish at ...

Obama on DC Jihadis: "Fiercely loyal Muslims" Crazy, man. Check out the TOTUS's response today to the devastating news of five DC Muslim students tracked down and arrested in Pakistan. They were plotting jihad. What did Pres Moe say? He speaks about fiercely loyal Muslims ....loyal to whom exactly? (vid hat tip KGS) Obama spent a month in Pakistan during his college years ....perhaps he is, uh, sympathetic. Here is a sampling of different posts in the past three months of fiercely loyal Muslim activity here in the good old USA: Chicago Muslim Charged In Mumbai Islamic Massacre Planned More Terror Attacks in India AMERICAN JIHAD: FBI INVESTIGATING 5 MISSING MUSLIM ...

Little slips! (J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings") "Whoever is faithful in very little--is also faithful in much; and whoever is unrighteous in very little--is also unrighteous in much." Luke 16:10 We are apt to under-estimate little failures in duty. It seems to us, a small matter: that we do not keep an engagement, that we lose our temper, that we say an impatient or angry word, that we show an unkind or harsh spirit, that we speak uncharitably of another, that we treat someone with discourtesy, or fail in some other way which appears trivial. We think that so long as we are honest, faithful, and loving in the larger ...
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me!

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me! (J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings") "Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me! But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you--for My power is made perfect in your weakness!' " 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 Many prayers which seem to be unanswered--are really answered. The blessing comes--but in a form we do not recognize. Instead of the very thing we sought--something better is given! The burden is not lifted away--but we are sustained beneath it. We are not spared the suffering--but in the suffering we are brought nearer to God, and receive more of ...
A device for saving people from toil, struggle and responsibility
Post Date: 2009-12-07 09:38:44 by Donald
A device for saving people from toil, struggle and responsibility (J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings") "But we prayed to our God--AND posted a guard day and night to meet this threat!" Nehemiah 4:9 We are in danger of making prayer a substitute for duty; or of trying to roll over on God, the burden of caring for us and doing things for us--while we sit still and do nothing! When we pray to be delivered from temptation--we must keep out of the way of temptation, unless duty clearly calls us there. We must also guard against temptation, resist the Devil, and stand firm in obedience and faith. When we ask God for our daily bread, pleading ...

Both Bush and Hitler Got Vatican 'Stamp of Approval' and Both Committed to Order of Skull and Bones

Both Bush and Hitler Got Vatican 'Stamp of Approval' and Both Committed to Order of Skull and Bones And behind the scenes lurking and pulling the fascist strings for the Vatican is the corrupt and devious Jesuit Order who are nothing more, as history as shown, than a dangerous military order of deadly assassins who have infiltrated through their loyal minions almost every facet of American life. By Greg Szymanski Sept. 30, 2007 There are many similarities to the rise in power of Adolf Hitler in Germany and the rise in power of the Bush family in America. Hitler, a Catholic committed to the Order of Skull and Crossbones, was groomed and placed in power by the Vatican and Jesuit ...

Ice storms, snow, floods, tornado wallop US killing 13
Post Date: 2007-01-15 00:56:42 by TLBSHOW
Freezing rain, snow, sleet, flash floods and at least one tornado walloped the United States this weekend, killing at least 13 people in accidents on slick roads as a massive storm front blanketed much of the country. The storm was expected to continue through at least Tuesday. The ice, wind and snow downed trees, traffic signals and power lines, blocked roads and forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights. Churches cancelled Sunday services and businesses closed early or did not open at all. Ten people died in Oklahoma where slippery highways caused more than 200 accidents, the Oklahoman newspaper reported. A state of emergency was declared and the National Guard was called out in ...
Jesus Was the "Prince of Peace," But Not a Muslim

Jesus Was the "Prince of Peace," But Not a Muslim As the world celebrates the birth of the "Prince of Peace," our conservative president repeatedly refers to Islam as a "religion of peace," despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In a practical sense, the president's naive mindset may explain why professionals working in Homeland Security are ordered to follow PC, rather than common sense, in dealing with "young, middle-eastern males who speak Arabic." For instance, TSA is prohibited from using racial profiling as a tool for identifying potential terrorists. As if my 87-year old grandmother, wheel-chair and all, is as much a threat to ...

The Christmas story is truly the most remarkable and beautiful story ever told. The fact that an omnipotent Creator would deliver His plan of salvation for humanity through an innocent child wrapped in swaddling clothes is both moving and telling. After all, He could have use the enormous forces of nature to draw attention to his dissatisfaction with the spiritual shortfall of the species created in His image. A major flood, a devastating string of earthquakes, violent storms and other calamities could have been visited upon the earth and its sinful inhabitants. Instead, He chose to deliver His message of hope and eternal life through a human instrument, in the form of the baby ...

IS IT IGNORANCE OR MISPLACED TRUST? By Pastor Chuck Baldwin December 12, 2006 http://NewsWithViews.com For the life of me, it is difficult, even exasperating, to understand how my fellow Christian ministers can excuse and condone the un-American and un-Christian actions and policies of modern politicians. What in the world is going on? Are they blind to what is happening, or do they just not care? It is truly frustrating! For example, I received a letter from a trusted friend (whose name I will not divulge) who told me of a private conversation he had with a notable conservative Christian leader (whose name shall also be withheld). During the conversation, my friend asked the ...
Pope Benedict betrays God, prays facing toward Mecca "like Muslims" - [God will destroy this Pope]
Post Date: 2006-12-01 10:23:13 by TLBSHOW
Pope Benedict ended a sensitive, fence-mending visit to Turkey on Friday amid praise for visiting Istanbul's famed Blue Mosque and praying there facing toward Mecca "like Muslims." The Pope, who sparked protests across the Muslim world with a speech two months ago seen as criticizing Islam, looked relaxed and pleased as he entered the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit for a mass at the end of the four-day trip. His first visit to a mostly Muslim country, held under tight security for fear of protests by nationalists and Islamists, was highlighted by a series of conciliatory gestures culminating in a stop on Thursday afternoon in Istanbul's famed Blue Mosque. Istanbul Grand ...
